    Yeah, a switch was flipped in Canadian’s minds because of the conflict. My old coworker is from Russia and was harassed recently at a library and it’s like, he was there picking some books up with his grandaughter. Be normal.

        Agreed, I think most people looking in from outside underestimate how virulent things are here. As someone who’s ethnic Chinese, honestly I could see limited internment camps in the mid-term future. And the simmering widespread hatred against Indians, Muslims, First Nations, and (for those who buy into the lib drivel) Russians is spiraling just as badly.

        I feel like- more than even the US, a general malaise dominates the country, one that I am not immune to as well (hence why I want to get the hell out). Economically and otherwise everyone knows this country is irredeemably corrupt, economically spiraling, and that their livelihoods will only get worse in the near future- and similarly to Weimar Germany, the already inherently racist, divided society is finding scapegoats to target as a result.

      He mentioned that he went to talk to the condo management in an earlier text supposedly about my parking. Also, seems to have a description of what I and my partner look like, what car we drive, etc. So, a lot of personal details. Of course, it could be somebody who’s not from the building, but just been stalking us.

          Not a fun thing to deal with to be sure, hopefully they’ll figure out who this scumbag is.

    File a police complaint for stalking, intimidation, hate crimes, whatever you want to lump in there. If you do end up trying to escalate this to building management or the telephone company, a police report will light some fires under some asses.

    Best case scenario the cops figure out who the number belongs to and pays them a visit. Worst case, you can have an official record of this if you get into a fight with this guy or something.

    ACAB and all that but I figure in situations like this it’s a lesser evil to point cops at horrible racists so they have less idle time to fuck with innocent people.

      Just ended up doing that on Saturday, turns out we do have a hate crime unit in the city, and this was serious enough they actually sent somebody over to take a statement the same day. And yeah completely agree, establishing a trail is good even if there’s an altercation later. I’d be able to prove that I was just defending myself if it comes down to that.

        I think they will separate into several groups: those that “never believed the USA propaganda” but will shift to the next enemy in a blink, those that forgot anything happened and especially their participation, eternal Tibet-like online horseflies that buzz in and shit their idiocy for no reason and the real fuckers itching for shooting some school because of that.

    Looks like they read that Time article about how Ukraine is losing, couldn’t handle it, and decided to take out their frustrations on the only Russian they know. I do agree with everyone else here, this seems more like a coward venting their frustrations at an easy target in a way they think will have no consequences. I don’t think they’ll do anything, but it is a good idea to be prepared at least. They’ll probably not approach you, but will scream racial slurs at your wife if they catch her alone in the car park. Sorry you have to be dealing with this comrade.

      I kind of had this thought as well, if they’re overly invested in the whole Ukraine project and now see it collapsing, maybe it set them off. I’m also not expecting this to get violent, just some random racist idiot in my building. And thanks, much appreciated.

        Keep us updated in case anything happens. It’s a stressful experience having to deal with people like this. If they’re anything like Australian racists, they’ll rant and rave and the police won’t do anything to stop them no matter how explicit their threats get. But they’re cowards, hiding behind text messages, they want you to feel upset and afraid because that’s how they feel about everything. They just want to drag you down to their level.

        And worst case scenario, you just get a couple of your mates together and knock on their door (or find them in the carpark) and tell them to stop doing this shit. You don’t even need to be rude or angry about it when you confront them, just showing that you know who is doing it and you’re willing to stand up for yourself will be enough. Though that’s how we deal with this sort of shit over here, not sure if it’s how things are done over there though.

          Yeah for sure, if there are any developments I’ll post some updates. And yeah most people don’t really want to go to jail for assault or murder at the end of the day, so I’m expecting that crazy rants are as far as this is likely to go. So far I’m still at the figuring out who the fuck this is stage though. If I get that far, I’ll definitely feel better. I agree that having a polite conversation with them having a few friends around would get the idea across pretty quick.
