Yuzu is a shitty emukator with even more shitty devs who were very much selling piracy and I am some what happy its gone

NOTE I am not happy about nintendos legal bitchery just yuzus demise NOTE 2: edited out menion of the poor emulation quality

Yuzu had this coming they SOLD a version of their emulator which could run totk 2 WEEKS before release and considering yuzu they most defently deliberatly added in support for totk for more money

Yuzu devs are also horrible they steal code are hypocritical and put the whole emulation and modding community at risk what if nintendo went after ryujinx after all of this because yuzu prevokes them and wins? what happens to emulation? what happens to modding tools mentioned?

For more information check this link out actually https://imgur.com/ZWoSZSt

Use ryujinx :3

Yuzu is an INCREDIBLY shady team who monotized piracy made it obvious they used pirated copys to develop the emulator and more

Obviously this makes nintendo mad and causes them to close their fists which they did and if yuzu fought the case the results would be horrible

It supported totk early cause the emulator worked? They made no specific patches to the emulator before it was released, and didnt even need to then because everything already worked.

Anything else is just Nintendo propaganda, cause all this wasn’t even early access - it was available in the free tier

No they did fix the emulator to play the game before release but it patreon only which is why nintendo has a strong case

Yuzu did no such thing. There were third party fixes but Yuzu didn’t implement anything until the game released.

You got a pull release for that? Cause it’d be some real sneaky work considering they didnt even allow talking about it in the discord

Well the github was taken down and idk if the patreon builds have their own seperate github where they pushed the update to before pushing it public on release date maybe some archive exists? I will have to check

But as some body who spends hours and hours in the modding and emulation community I know it did happen

I can tell this is going well for you even without downvotes federated to my instance. There might not have been an actual court case, but Yuzu just got pulled for offering a way to break the switch’s encryption keys, not just because they profited. It pretty directly implicates Ryujinx and any other emulator that could show up just by the nature of the settlement.

It also effectively killed off the only reliable 3DS emulator. Sure Yuzu and Citra are gone, but Panda3ds (the only other 3ds emulator with compatibility even close to Citra’s) is also screwed over because it relied on the same ARM translation layer that Citra/Yuzu used. Forks might show up, but quite frankly I doubt any of them will be seriously maintained because of the crazy complexity required to make an emulator along with the newly established risk of doing so. This isn’t another Tachiyomi situation where a bunch of forks will pop up immediately.

this sounds like the most fanboy pilled post. seriously its just an emulator, i dont even thing thr main userbases of ryujinx and yuzu are antagonistic against each other, as each had a completely different philosophy on what to prioritize.

take for example, intel and amd users couldnt use ryujinx for the longest time because it took ages for ryujinx to pick up the vulkan backend, defaulting to opengl, which only nvidia until the past few years, performed well in.

dolphin uses secret numbers they arent allowed to distribute, that doesnt mean we shouldn’t support dilphin. not everything thats good is totally 100% good, life is complicated. emulation is simple, and should be protected on the merits that nintendo is attacking it.

Yeah but dolphin isnt targetting their fancy new consoles and thats all dolphin does

Yuzu sells piracy dolphin does not yuzu provides a very bad example in court by oprnly admitting to pirating to games develop the emulator dolphin does not etc

Yuzu being so shady beind the scenes causes nintendo to take serious legal action against emulation and modding more so then before which is obviously VERY bad

Imagine if they fought the case they would 100% loose and then major aspects of emulation such as decrypting games becomes illegal

Nintendo was going to take legal action regardless. Get real. Yuzu allowed bypassing the Switch’s security so Nintendo filed a DMCA claim, just like they did when Dolphin got put on Steam. Nintendo is the most litigious company in history. Just ask the developers of Pokemon Uranium, or AM2R, or the C64 port of Super Mario Bros. None of those things impacted Nintendo’s revenue. Why do you think they’d hesitate to sue the developers of an emulator for a console they currently sell games for?

Also what “shady behind the scenes”?

op is being extremely annoying but theres some truth to what theyre saying, yuzu was releasing updates to patreon that allowed playing of leaked games (like totk) which even for me is scummy and reason for action.

they harvested money off of what isn’t theirs, past just paying the devs for their work

I was pretty sure that the updates were only a week ahead on patreon. Its not like they were going never release the patched emu.

the problem is releasing the patch for the game that hasnt come out yet, exclusively to people paying, then advertising you can play that game before its even out. that just screams lawsuit and it really is on them

trust me, i fucking hate nintendo but i cant help but side with them here. its towing the line of fair use in emulation way past where its safe

I agree that Yuzu did things like sell piracy, which put them squarely on Nintendo’s Ninja Radar. It’s unfortunate that they’re so litigious, even for projects not intended to make money.

    But, like, calm down man.
