We know you’re gonna love this one.
Seeing as Monero is the ultimate stealth currency, it deserves a secure way to store and spend your coins from a completely airgapped device. As a privacy & security focused project, the ANONERO team has identified 3 issues with existing options:
- Centralization: Dependence on a small group of hardware wallet companies that can drop Monero support on a whim.
- Security: Crypto-specific devices are easily identifible and can attract unwanted attention.
- Accessibility: Desktop cold-signing UX is cubersome and prohibitive to non-technical users.
Enter ANON + NERO: a DIY hardware wallet solution for Monero
Nothing screams to the world that you have crypto like owning a Trezor/Ledger device, so using 2 Android devices, one offline (ANON), one online (NERO), users can now create, sign, and broadcast airgapped transactions from their own DIY hardware wallet.
While a cold-signing feature currently exists on the CLI wallet, the UX isn’t something most users will want to deal with. ANON + NERO leverages the power of the Uniform Resources (UR) standard to transmit Monero’s relatively large payloads via animated QR codes.
We’ve also created the necessary UR types so that all Monero wallets using UR will be cross-compatible. That means ANON can be used in combination with NERO, or any other wallet that plans to implement UR support, such as Feather Wallet.
All you have to do is open up NERO and start spending as you would on a normal wallet. The app will then take you through the steps to export and import the necessary info in the correct sequence to complete the transaction.
All over QR, entirely airgapped. And they said it couldn’t be done.

Wow! That is just awesome! I believe I’ve recently seen the logo on twitter and wondered what wallet it was, didn’t expect something this cool.
For many, such as myself, this is a game changer! Finally… I have a hardware wallet I’m happy to use!
This sounds like a great project on its face. I’m excited to follow along and see how it progresses.
Thank you very much. Looks very cool and works very cool too. 🙂
Thanks for your hard work. This is exactly what we need. I really don’t trust hardware wallets.
Can someone repost the demo video on another site like odysee or peertube or even torrent? I can’t see the the video without signing into telegram and I don’t want to give my personal information (like emails) to any site that I don’t use the app. Hopefully the source code can go on something like the Monero github so the source code can have more eyeballs and more confidence that the source matches the apk. There are anonymous contributors to Monero, so it must be possible to use something like github anonymously.
finally got odysee to work. updated link: https://odysee.com/ANONERO:3
Thanks. I can see it now. It seems it’s been picked up by Monerotalk (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKrN-bnUvfw it should be on odsyee an hour later) . Anyone that wants to give a shout out for the project should join the viewers on stage segment of the show.
Here is an alternative Piped link(s): https://piped.video/watch?v=PKrN-bnUvfw
Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.
I’m open-source, check me out at GitHub.
odysee wouldn’t allow signups over tor, and peertube only gave 5MB of upload size. do you know of any more alternatives?
brighteon, rumble, bitchute?
Hello! Thanks for your work :)
There is a simple way to change the node on opened wallet? I should to wipe and start again?
deleted by creator
Hey, I just wasn’t able to add nodes because I was need to enable the wallet first. I’m OK with that, thanks for your reply!
But now I see NERO closes itself when trying to import Key Images (after successfull importing outputs from ANON). What can be wrong and how can I debug it?
deleted by creator
Yes, I just misspelled the correct name but I imported from offline wallet the output (in online) and then tried to import the keys from online (in offline) and that’s what closes the app.
The last step is not working here, importing the keys from offline wallet in online (view only). Importing outputs was OK.

Scanning but tomorrow I will try to import and edit after my test.
TY sr! 🙏
I can confirm it doesn’t work here importing the keys from file. QR closes the app and using file just shows the progress bar at infinitum.
What can I do? There is a way to check the logs?

Interesting. Are you referring to this? https://github.com/BlockchainCommons/crypto-commons/blob/master/Docs/ur-1-overview.md
yes
@silverpill @ANONERO
Tried many times before release, try it out it’s so cool
Pretty Neat! Got a feature/idea for those that dont like being pinged by towers ;) Would be cool if a (vendors) nero wallet could accept already signed monero transaction (customer) via qr code which submits to network via vendors wallet. Is something like that possible?
Would be great to buy a kebab with this ;)
NERO can already broadcast any signed transaction - you just need to pass the payload to the merchant. currently that’s not supported via QR but should be easy enough to add.
Good job!
