Trump belongs in prison: Yes. Snowden belongs in prison: Also yes. They have the same owner: Also yes.

Seriously? Snowden did the only morally correct thing to do in his situation. There is no defense for being aware of that level of malfeasance and not disclosing it. If he hadn’t fled to Russia he would be rotting in an American jail cell.

He went to russia because he’s a criminal on the run, and that’s where his employer is.

You honestly think Putin paid him to sacrifice his freedom and way of life to show the American people the crimes the NSA was committing against them?

But yes, of course he fled to Russia “because he’s a criminal”. That’s exactly what the other person said when they correctly stated that Snowden didn’t want to go to prison.

We could do with a lot more criminals like Snowden. We’d all be better off.

Can you stop that? Just because someone has a more nuanced take than “Snowden fled to Russia, therefore Snowden bad” doesn’t mean they support Putin. That’s a lazy response and you know it.

Money bail is lazy. Perfect for a justice system that’s always asleep at the wheel.

I guess they’re incentivized not to consider him a flight risk as that would be a show of no faith in his secret service detail following the law, but that mask is already off, so now it’s all about keeping up the appearance.

Fuck Donald Trump. This has been a slow and long process but it’s getting there and I’m willing to see it through to the end. Once the precedent is set I’m hopeful we handle this better in the future.

Some times I’ve felt like having Iced Tea without ice cubes for takeout but I’ve always felt too awkward to ask a server for an “Iced Tea without Ice”…

Considering how hard it was just to land Trump even close to jail, allowing him free on bail is crazy.

Are they really trusting his SS detail to keep him tied down? Considering they’ve already broken the law for him by deleting key text messages regarding the Jan 6th event, it’s a fool’s errand to assume they won’t do it again.

His wrinkly ass deserves to be locked up, and to stay locked up for his actions against the people.

Politicians of all parties are a caste unto their own. Jailing Trump means they might be next. Trump’s case is a huge psychological hurdle for Americans because you treat your Presidents like Kings. You need to get over it. 3rd worlders and even Europe regularly jail high ranking politicians.

Oh, I’m not American, I’m just very familiar with American politics due to being terminally online.

But I agree. Many Americans worship their president like a king, which is odd since America’s whole idea was meant to be to bin off the monarchy.

We’re just lucky that this kind of president/politician worshipping hasn’t quite become mainstream in Europe yet.

I know Trump supporters are dumb as rocks, but I’m assuming SS agents are smart enough to know that breaking the law for Trump will only result in themselves going to prison.

I mean, it’s because he’s not a flight risk. The Secret Service isn’t going to let him just skip town. Bail is just supposed to be an incentive to return for your trial.
