just a reminder, ‘person of the year’ is not a ‘best person’ award.

a person, group, idea, or object that “for better or for worse … has done the most to influence the events of the year”

While this is true. Anything less than an objectively bad framing on Trump will be just more fluffing of him. He doesn’t care if coverage is slightly negative as long as he’s being covered. If they don’t outright call him a grifter liar and a monster. They will have failed still.

Their description of him isn’t exactly complimentary.

He has reshaped the American electorate, activating young male voters who propelled him to a decisive victory that saw him win the popular vote for the first time and turn every swing state red,” the outlet wrote. “Trump’s remarkable victory comes after he lost the 2020 election to Biden and repeatedly refused to accept the results. His 2024 win is history-making in multiple ways: he will be the oldest President in U.S. history, and he was convicted earlier this year by a New York jury of 34 counts of fraud, making him the first convicted felon to be elected President.

We got a fair amount of century to go. Assholes might take it as a personal challenge.

Don’t they do that for each President?

LOL - Wiki has Trump already:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Person_of_the_Year

    2024 - Trump
    2020 - Biden/Harris
    2016 - Trump
    2012 - Obama
    2008 - Obama
    2004 - W. Bush
    2000 - W. Bush
1996 - David Ho. Clinton/Ken Starr got it in 1998.
    1992 - Clinton
1988 - The Endangered Earth, H.W. Bush got it in 1990.
    1984 - Peter Uberoth, Reagan in 1983.
    1980 - Reagan
    1976 - Carter
    1972 - Nixon/Kissinger, Nixon also 1971
    1968 - Apollo 8 Astronauts
    1964 - Johnson, Also 1967
    1960 - U.S. Scientists, Kennedy 1961

Seems like each President gets 1 per term. Nixon is the only one pulling it back to back. '71/'72 after having been skipped in '68.

Johnson is the only 1 term president to get it twice because, obviously, he finished Kennedy’s term.
