I have searched the settings and can’t find any setting that allows this behavior. I have automatic updates turned off. How do I stop it from turning on randomly?

Edit: I have a disk in it and can hear it moving parts and spinning up when it turns on. It’s so weird.

    Speaking of switched plugs, I remember switched wall plugs in N.Ireland many years ago when I was there. Seems like a great idea everywhere.

      In Australia, wall socket switches are pretty much standard. Couldn’t imagine going back to not having them.

      Those are typically for lamps. Check your house wiring as sometimes they use higher gauge (thinner) wire than usual, that can’t handle big appliances or electronics.
