    Kinda gambling on infinite military support from the US there, bud.

    Invading a modern, prepared country is actually quite difficult, and none of Israel’s neighbors are exactly military powerhouses. If the US pulled all of our aid tomorrow (God, I WISH), Israel would have domestic political problems, but could still maintain its military spending at the cost of either moderate tax rises (to the chagrin of the right-wing) or moderate cuts to benefits (to the chagrin of what passes for the left anymore). Even if it decided to go it with the reduced budget, Israel would still be a terribly tough nut to crack, at least in a war that threatened the existence of Israel.
