Have a good day people
Random. I was listening to ‘Say My Name’ from the Beetlejuice musical… and at one point when they were song-arguing there was a short part where it sounded like Lydia and Beetlejuice might be singing the same melody - except him in major and her in minor. And he lilted down on the last note of a few phrases while she was tending to lilt up, further emphasising their disagreement.
I have no idea if the up and down was by a full note or just sharp and flat, and the sheet music seems to be paywalled to get the second page so I can’t even try to puzzle that note out.
I don’t know much about music theory and can’t really read sheet music. Sometimes my brain just decides to have shower thoughts
Went out to the dentist for a clean this morning. Apparently my brushing technique is great and also I smell great (nurse liked my cologne) so that was a nice start to the day. Decided it was such a nice day I’d drive out to get lunch in Kyneton which was spectacular, then drove back to the city and got home in time for my afternoon meetings.
OH and some car went flying past me on City Link and then about 30 seconds later I see a cop car flying up behind me flashing its lights. I move out of its way quickly and it takes off and pulls that other car over. Always a nice thing to see.
If I had to pick a highlight from this morning I’d say maybe the vanilla slice and Farmers Union iced coffee combo after my pie.
Spent 3 hours on the phone getting Centrelink to update my TFN. I’ve noticed calling Services Australia on their regular line just gets you hung up on because they can’t handle the volume of calls. Try the Department of Social Services switchboard instead and ask for the area you need: 1300 653 227
Can that be updated online?
The ABC having the headline “The rental property sector is not a net taxpayer” is a little misleading IMO.
In many European countries rental properties are taxpayer subsidised. However in turn for getting the subsidies, the property is subject to rent control or a long term lease.
I don’t know what the deal with this batch of pins is. Have had over a dozen bend to 90 or have the heads shatter in the past few days. Bloody annoying.
Are they blunt or thick? Sometimes resistance going in can make them bend. I’m not sure about the heads though. I know the little emery strawberry was used to smooth or sharpen needles but I don’t know if they would work right with modern anti rust pins.
Dressmakers pins would possible be thinner, stronger and sharper
Pretty sure the sand filled strawberries still work. It’s dress pins that are dying, and yes I’m being somewhat mean to them. The quilting pins are coping much better despite previous abuse with coir and spray paint. Another box of those to the shopping list.
cheap
Pathological work liar is in full force today, gods give me strength and patience.
Can you lean in to the stories and toy with them?
I know it’s a bad idea - just the devil in me would be tempted
Oh, I do, and I absolutely call them out once I’ve had enough.
Don’t tell lies, CEO!
Haha. I was testing something out but it didn’t work so I had to delete it.
That’s weird the giraffe there looks different to the emoji I put there.
That nerve-wracking 3% battery will appear in my nightmares
I managed to take this as my phone died last month
Enjoy the nightmares!
Today I came home to SEVEN (7) pakidges. It’s like Christmas.
That makes my single package seem really insignifigant.
Are you going to share your excitement on opening them with us? 🤓
Books! A dress! A top! P2 masks! An embroidery kit! Such riches 😊
sky prettied
One of my visitors asked why you can’t get period specific pain relief medication in Australia, like Panadol Menstrual - I dug up an ABC article on the 2015 Reckitt Benkeiser/Nurofen lawsuit, and it had an old clip from the Checkout c. 2013.
I felt so proud at that moment for Australia having the ACCC (defanged as it has been over the years) and consumer affairs shows like Gruen and The Checkout (I learned so much about marketing tactics that I take for granted now, even if Will Anderson is chronically unfunny).
The lack of shows like The Checkout these days is sad. Are there any well-researched contemporary Aus successors I wonder. My niece is rather sheltered so I’d like her to learn some of this stuff and understand that you can fight back against bullies. We come from a place that is still so overwhelmingly anti-consumer that it’s not funny
Goeie nag
time for pain meds and a heat pack 😫
Did anyone else feel shaking just now?
It was valentines day. I imagine there was a bit of that going on.
Yep. Not sure if earthquake or cat shaking the mattress
I think I might go for a 5 minute walk in the sun. First time out in 5 weeks 😭
Yay!! It’s a very excellent day for a little sunshine
I survived, was a little shaky, it was nice to feel the sun for more than a few seconds.
😎 that’s enough. Well done!
who knew a cracked back and a squished disc would be so debilitating
Today I did what I had to do
For my sanity.
Told my father all my feelings;
“I’m a travesty”.
He wasn’t there when I was small,
“Are you here for me?”
Does he care for me?
We barely speak.
But he said he is proud of me,
And my journey.
That he’d support me always,
And that he does love me.I told my work I’m done;
I won’t be coming in
Ever again, I’m through with phones
I live for me.
I applied for a course
In a career I’ve never been in;
If I want change it’s up to me,
I can’t keep going on like this.✊
