War is coming but not because of this. I read about this development in Chinese media some days ago and they didn’t seem any more upset at this than any of the other provocations which is to say they’ll almost certainly ignore it aside from statements.
I expect China might respond asymmetrically here as they’ve done previously. They might ban exports of some more critical military materials such as rare earth metals for example.

If i remember correctly tw has jurisdiction over the island but its 300km away from tw and 10km away from mainland china
