Your phone does QI wireless charging. This is not currently supported by any smartphone, smart accessory or wireless earbuds/watch in existence today.

It most certainly is. I can use my phone to charge my Pixel Buds Pro. I’ve done it before. It lets me charge them both at the same time with just one cable, by using my phone as a wireless charging pad.

Edit: Oh, by “this” you mean NFC charging. Gotcha

I think they were more commenting that some phones already do reverse Qi charging for accessories and even phones (eg, my Pixel can reverse Qi charge my Sony XM5 buds). Which then brings up the question what sort of advantages NFC will have over Qi. Space is the big advantage but what about efficiency?

It brings the advantage that you should buy new devices to specifically support this feature™.

Go forth and consume for the sake of consumption, citizen.

In seriousness the only advantage is space and hardware companies 30-50c on components (more profit).

It will likely cause more problems than solve in the projects in the form of heat management and efficiency losses. But hey, new shiny feature make line go up? Promotion for google idea man?
