I did not end up making the korma, because just the stew turned out to be So Much Food.
Four meals worth in the freezer. Three meals worth in the fridge. Plus dinner tonight, and the realisation that I’m out of plastic tubs with lids.
If you’d made the korma food, you might just be in a food korma
spoiler
Koma (coma)
Boooo
I know that was a really bad one. I think I’ve turned into a dad
You are way too young for that. However, never hurts to practice a bit ahead of time.
Yeah lol, that was another awful joke
I love cooking pumpkin. I love eating pumpkin. I hate chopping pumpkin
And they are so itchy to pull up when done.
Same. Good thing is you can cook pumpkin with the skin on.
So I can fish the skin out or it comes off easily when cooked?
because if that is true I am never peeling another pumpkin again.
That is true or you can eat it.
awesome ✊✊✊✊✊
What I do is cut it into crescents or chunks, put it in a baking dish, add a sprinkle of cumin, chilli flakes, pepper and salt, a slosh of olive oil and roast it until soft. When it’s on your plate and you’ve had enough of eating skin you can just cut it off with your knife because it becomes very soft when cooked.
Yes. Some kinds of pumpkin will leave a greenish rim after the skin comes off. This is in no way harmful, but can spoil the colour of pumpkin soup. I never peel anything I don’t have to so have been not peeling pumpkin for many years. Actually, the same goes for potatoes. Cook with skin on then slip the hard part of the skin off with a flat bladed knife or your fingers. Usually comes off very easily. As most of the nutrition other than fibre and starch is just under the skin, peeling is wasteful. I recommend rubber gloves as skin comes off most easily when hot and damp from the pot. Also beetroot is tastier cooked with the skin on, but gloves are compulsory when removing skin after cooking. Unless you want to star in a horror film.
Heated wheat bag and hot water bottle, check.
Coffee check.
Blanket check.
Footy check.
Now I’m not moving.
Good plan. I feel like shit which is how I’m justifying doing sfa and chilling on the couch.
I’m sorry to hear.
Make sure you Get yourself something nice to eat tonight.
Nothing like a good meal to lift your spirits.
I see chicken and veggies on the horizon. And maybe a Callipo if I’m feeling special.
Sounds delicious.
I’m going chicken drumsticks as well with seasoning.
It’s going to be sooo good.
I’m absolutely feeling like trash today too. Physically and mentally. Pretty sure whatever I was recovering from has come back to hit me full on.
Aww rest up and have some nice meals as well.
I hope you feel better soon.
Today is going to be a cold night so hunker up with a movie maybe.
Yeah I would like something light and funny but my left eyeball absolutely hurts despite having a nap and drinking plenty and not doing much. Thank goodness I have a fair bit of premade food to eat. Day feels totally wasted.
Possible you have a cyst on your eyelid?
Getting some good sleep can really help it go away.
Oh yeah, having pre-made stuff certainly helps when you’re feeling down and aren’t up to cooking for sure.
Lol I feel this. Besides putting on some washing I haven’t gotten out of bed yet because this electric blanket is just so toasty1
I’m still debating if I should buy the throw one for couch sitting this week.
Umming and ahhhing right now about it.
I’m only going to get up to reheat my packs or to make dinner later.
Washing done as well!
High five! 🙌
The best and worst part about electric blankets is you don’t have to do anything to make them stay warm. Great because I don’t want to be anywhere except warmth when it’s 10 outside and 12 inside, but bad because it makes it impossible to get out of bed!
Or in my case the couch.
We have a split system in the lounge room so that’s usually where I park up in summer or before I got the blankie
Went to the footy today with my daughter. On the way out had to stop at the gent’s. some young lads were kind of trying to chat her up whilst I was absent, nothing rude or lewd.
The looks on their faces when she said ‘Hey dad’ and I stood there towering over them.
Kind of feel bad for their egos, but watching them scurry away was pretty comical.
Don’t mess with the elevator’s daughter after a whizz because the only floor is THE BASEMENT
It’s a Led Zeppelin night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7fdZnuCY6A
Finally have some decent weather so I’m going to tackle the garage and hopefully get the last of it cleaned out.
Oh snap! I’m just about to do a hard-rubbish cull of the shed. Been putting it off for ages, and for some reason the clutter isn’t clearing itself.
I might water the garden 😉
Hang off for an hour and I’ll have everything out 😂
You evil woman!
🤭
And I might wash the car 😇
Washing on, breakfast dishes done. I’m going to the market, and then…
Then it’s time to cook. I have big plans
I have yet to get up and I want it that way
Ooh , what’s on the menu?
Beef stew (stout, mushrooms, barley et al)
Veg + chickpea korma
And a batch of biscuits to fill my biscuit tin
Oooh, loves me a good Scotch broth!
Is it ‘fill the freezer’ day?
Something like that. I’ve felt culinarily productive all week but had very little time to cook…today, I go all out
Oh man, I just realised some of my rants about scent and chemicals on here come off as a bit cooked.
For people who aren’t familiar - I have an elderly asthmatic cat who used to require emergency vet trips and use inhalers before I eliminated nearly all scent and aerosols from the house, have extremely sensitive skin mild asthma and migraines myself, and used to be really mindful about chemicals because I was caring for a bird. (Birds can die if you cook in a non-stick pan around them.)
Using simpler and fewer products is also cheaper and more environmentally friendly.
I promise I vaccinate and don’t have an issue with 5G.
Everyone that ever cared for a chronically ill animal or human understands!
lol we’re both chronically ill
I think most people understand you are a diligent car carer.
laughs in trying to avoid more vet bills
Haha omg melba, I never had the assumption that you’re a cooker! Don’t stress it!
I took your advice about vinegar for carpet moths and it’s worked a treat! No more grubs have come out of the carpet. Apparently the acidity damages the grubs and eggs, so I hope I’ve broken the cycle. But I’m super thankful because I was stressed about that bug spray chemical that cats can’t metabolise. You are a legend! 💜
No problem! Vacuuming super regularly and hot washing/drying all the cloth in the house is what gets them too. (I’ve done some more today)
If you’re still struggling for a cat safe insecticide there’s the Frontline spray (out of stock at Petcircle but also a similar cheaper price at Budget Pet Products). Or there’s the Sundew flea control spray which I don’t use because scent and aerosol, and which doesn’t seem to be in pet shops anymore.
I’m gonna get my biweekly run outta the way, though it would’ve been better in the rain
Online is being legislated again
Oh wow these new laws are something else… pr0n is gated behind age verification in Texas and under-18s are now barred from having social media accounts without parental permission in Utah. I’m still trying to work out what the latest with KOSA is
It seems like something that might not affect all of us, but the thing is that many sites are hosted in America and subject to US law. And the material being gunned for also includes anything to do with LGBTIA+, sexual health information, or seeking terminations.
So there’s the possibility that even if you’re not a citizen you may be asked to provide ID to use American social media or general websites. Or the owners may try to scrub the site of that information/certain users.
I was aware of this stuff being fought but now it’s slowly starting to go into effect.
I wish I could do this sometimes
Gibson has been reading too much recent news :(
Omg 😱 beautiful! I love when they do that 😍 a true loaf
Reminds me of Garfield. Exactly what he would do.
Returned from the market with everything I need for the week, including a bunch of gerberas.
Let the games begin
Gerberas are so cute 🐹 🐹🐹
Hmm. Potential problem. I dropped my bowl of ice cream on the floor and told it it was an arsehole. My computer wasn’t a fan of that and turned off. Then it got stuck on a black screen and I had to switch it off at the PSU to make it stop. Then it booted up perfectly normally like nothing ever happened which I don’t know is meant to be better or worse than a BSOD.
I dug through the event logs and the 2 errors I noticed were both related to graphics card issues. I really hope it’s not a graphics issue (at least one I can’t fix) because I do not have new GPU money, and my CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics. But like most errors in windows, it can either be a direct or refered error. Apparently although the error comes from the GPU, it can be caused by anything stretching from a minor driver glitch to memory (RAM) problems.
It’s never done it before and hasn’t done it since, but I suspect it’s probably because of the damage the fan sustained the other day. As far as I can tell, the wifi card only damaged the fan, so my suspicion is perhaps the fans not doing a very good job anymore so it overheated and shut down. But because windows doesn’t believe in descriptive errors I can’t really confirm or rule out anything
^ leaked footage of me trying to get any useful info out of windows
(That was meant to be a gif but uploading gifs to Aussie zone turns them into webMs for some reason so I just embedded the MP4. You’ll probably need to click on it to animate)
Not my field of expertise but can you replace just the fan? Might be cheaper than the graphics if you suspect damage and subsequent overheating. Then if issues persist it’s possibly something else
Not my area of expertise either, it looks like it is possible. Voids the warranty, apparently, and I’ll need to redo the thermal paste at the same time. I’ve redone my CPU thermal paste before and although I hate it and probably don’t do it very well, it still worked afterwards. Although I’m not sure if GPU fans are soldered or not. If they are that’d way beyond my level of technical skill and I’d have to take it to a shop
A GPU upgrade has been on the cards for a while now, but stalled because the people at centrecom said I wouldn’t notice any performance increase with an upgraded GPU as it’d still be bottlenecked by my mobo and to a lesser extent my CPU. I might look at upgrading GPU anyway and worry about bottlenecks later
Ah sorry didn’t even think about warranty. Thought you built it
Nah, this one’s a pre-built from scorptec. Honestly not sure the GPU would still be under warranty, I got it a while ago
If something ever happens to this one you might be able to get a low cost computer from Computerbank
Edit: They have secondhand parts for sale too
Ok I tried to watch the godfather and I just couldn’t get behind it. I managed to get an hour and a bit in but then I started nodding off. Finished off the other half of crocodundee, now that’s a movie I can get behind
Try the book. It’s one of my favourites. Read it basically in one sitting whilst solo camping in the Daintree about 20 years ago.
The book ruined true movie for me.
Read it before watching and thought the movie was overrated.
Godfather II is better anyway
Hey hey it’s Saturday!
