A meme that’s been going around the last week or two. Not sure precisely what it was, but something along the lines of asking a woman whether she’d rather be locked in a room with a bear or a guy, and she chooses the bear.
Maybe instead of trying really hard to act like you’re a victim of prejudice, you should take some time to think about why women largely choose the bear.
Depends more on which man than which bear for me. Random man I know nothing about? The bear. Friend who’s been nothing but nice and respectful for years? The friend.
We aren’t answering the question thinking “well the bear might not kill me,” it’s “the bear will only kill me.”
I think it’s a tiktok meme. Someone somewhere brought up the question of “say you’re stranded in the woods. Would you rather encounter a random man or a bear?” Most men say the man, obviously. Most women have to think about it. A lot of men are offended by the idea that a woman might be roughly as afraid of random men as she is random bears, and a lot of those guys are in women’s DMs making real good cases for the bear.
I think you need to change the question a little bit to make it equivalent for the guys. Instead of just a random man, imagine it’s a random man who’s likely to be at least 10% larger than you, has been taking testosterone supplements, and wants to have sex with you. The bear seems a little bit more reasonable at that point.
@starman2112@optissima i literally did not have to think about it for an instant. I did not even have to use my brain. you know what did have to spend a lot of time thinking about? putting all of the items on the the never-ending list of reasons why into words. and it’s wayyyyyyyyy longer than this bro
I mean, among racists yeah. This isn’t really analogous to race, though. Rape culture is a thing. Women have legitimate reason to be wary around men in a way that white people do not have legitimate reason to be wary around black people.
Context?!?

A better question would be if she would rather be locked in a room with a bear or a black man
Weird how no one prefers the bear in that scenario. Because sex-based prejudice is fine, but race-based prejudice is wrong
Maybe instead of trying really hard to act like you’re a victim of prejudice, you should take some time to think about why women largely choose the bear.
Fearing a person based on immutable traits is prejudice
Which is why everyone will claim on camera that they would prefer to encounter a black man over a bear
Ok? I guess you’ve really shown the feminazis what’s what this time bud
The point is that we fear accusations of race-based prejudice but not sex-based prejudice.
Ok
I’ve seen would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or a random man somewhere in there.
This is it. I think some ticktocker went around asking random women, and 4/5 chose the bear.
this kind of bear, I hope?
I think the answer should depend a lot on the species of a bear
Depends more on which man than which bear for me. Random man I know nothing about? The bear. Friend who’s been nothing but nice and respectful for years? The friend.

I see, thank you for an insight
Grizzlies are infamous for not waiting til you’re dead to start eating.
So are men

This didn’t actually explain it which is why I asked on here actually.
What more context do you want?

I really appreciate it!

This produces radically different results

No woman on camera would claim that she is more afraid of a black man than a bear
She would claim that a (racially ambiguous) man is more dangerous than a bear. Making that man black prevents her from articulating her fear
