Republican men seem massively troubled about their masculinity — and that’s literally causing death and suffering

I disagree. Sometimes you just have to repeatedly announce that you’re gay despite not looking it.

My understanding is that if you feel the need to repeatedly announce something you don’t think others know/believe it. That could be because it’s bullshit (alpha males), it could be because you’re Insecure in it (freshly out of the closet people), it could be because people keep saying they don’t believe you (rural people who believe we need to stop emitting so much co2), or it could just be that this is useful information to express to new people (the gay wingman at a hookup bar).

Some 6’ marine constantly talking about how he’s a real tough man is driven by insecurity, but a pre everything trans man doing the same thing may have insecurity too, but he’s also informing people of his gender and how he’d like to be treated.

I said it before too but:

Gotta take the statement in context of the thread. I am sure there are a lot of people in environments that they have to continuously assert themselves just to be heard let alone recognized. The cis white men who typically embody this toxic masculinity are not in an oppressive environment, they are creating the oppressive environment.
