I’m not familiar with the dungeon synth genre but I’ll look into it. I’m exploring a lot of sounds still but some of my stuff is definitely dark/abrasive.

Dungeon synth was created by the pioneers of the Second Wave of Black Metal to go along with their black metal tracks. Some of them also made full albums just of dungeon synth, no metal, and so a new genre was created. It has an eerie sound, medievalesque, often dark and opressive. Check Cursed to Wander the Shadowland Eternal by Erythrite Throne, this is great. Also check the Dungeon Synth Archives on YouTube, it’s an amazing library.

That sounds interesting and not what I was expecting.

Regarding the artwork, do you think you’d be more likely to check out new music with artwork of the original post or more something like this?:

Edit: this was just a quick doodle on an already burned page but now I’m thinking about what it would sound like 🤔 It does not sound like this.

Honestly, definitely the artwork of the original post. It’s amazing.

The doodle photo is bland, and seems low effort, which gives the feeling the music can be too. Or unpolished. It’s also nothing like any style or convention of album artwork I know, so I don’t know what to expect.

If you’d ask me to guess the music, I’d think it’s contemporary classical music, very experimental and artsy. Or maybe reggae about drugs.

The artwork was very low effort because I did it at a moment before commenting lol. More an essance of what my bs would look like. Sound is my passion and I put I’ve put way more time into it. Though I’m still very amateurish. The linked snippet was just something I did this week to practice dorian and some other things. It’s not something I’ve worked on long and would release. And yes drugs are an influence in my work despite the style.

It also doesn’t fit OP but some other stuff I have bounced to my phone might.

This one for example. It could be on an EP with the OP art

Just saw your earlier link. I’ve listened to both songs. It’s not bad! The beat was drums right? Or did you simulate drums on the synthesizer? What is dorian?

I actually feel like Groove (no bass) fits better the OP artwork, but, maybe that’s just me, in any case, I’d expect something much heavier, and that hits much harder.

No the drums I actually just sampled a classic break just to get a rhythm. I’d probably replace or chop and manipulate it more though since for the first one since they’re basically dry (though many people release tracks like that). The second one I chopped and stretched so much that all you hear actually came from a drum break. But with the “groove” the other sounds were synthesized and played by me. I also had an electric bass track but I wasn’t happy with the mix (and I still need more practice).

I don’t really share my stuff so thank you for taking the time to listen and for being kind.

Oh and Dorian is a mode. Basically a key/scale. Not a major or minor key but kind of something in-between? You can tell I’ve put more time into production/fx than music theory but I’m working on it.
