No, seeing something that is damn well known to never have happened before causing massive damage while walking from home to my brother’s workplace is what gave me that impression.

My hometown flooded in 2017 and then 2018 and again this year. My current city of residence hasn’t seen a summer this cold since it was founded not in spite of but because the cities of Kelowna and Yellowknife are on-fucking-fire and the smoke is temporarily shielding this city from record-high heat waves. This isn’t normal, and the global average temperature, despite the common misconception, has never been this warm since the beginning of life on Earth.

My childhood wasn’t a conservative one, I’m not fearing this because it’s new. I fear it because it’s deadly.

and the global average temperature, despite the common misconception, has never been this warm since the beginning of life on Earth.

You’re measuring that with your eyes, are you…? Hell, even if we grant you use of your thermoreceptors, you can discern an average global temperature change of 1ºC? It is technically possible for a human to detect a change in temperature of 1ºC in a controlled environment, but out in the world where there is constant variation at the best of times? That’s an impressive feat.

With capabilities like that, particularly with a mind that can keep track of unbelievable amounts of information required pull that off, why are you wasting your time here? You could be using your extraordinary talents to solve the problem.

I fear it because it’s deadly.

What about seeing a light haze of smoke, something people witnessed for centuries, conjures thoughts that certain death for mankind is near? Or is it that you’ve also studied the science, built on precise measuring tools and mathematical models, to understand that it is deadly? If the later, you’re clearly not paying attention.

No, I did the fucking research. You clearly have no idea what an average even is. Average == “normal”. The sum total of all temperatures on Earth, measured by weather stations around the globe, is higher than the average temperature derived from arctic and arctic ice cores.

My only “talents” are learning and understanding what someone is saying when they give an argument for or against something. But an asshole like you would never vote for me if I was even eligible to run.

Right. Research that used precise measuring tools and mathematical models, not just looking around with the naked eye. It’s almost like you didn’t read the first comment.

To be fair, how could you? Your described “talents” would leave you talentless if you weren’t able to find a fake argument to “argue” over for no reason.
