Other crimes do rack up more charges when crossing state lines. Because a crime can violate a local law, but then violate federal law by crossing state lines. Bank robbery is already a federal crime.

I have never heard of the charge of ‘driving to a crime’ being added.
But feel free to show that driving to a bank robbery is a federal crime. I would like to see that law please.
