No, it’s not part of Islamic history, it is part of Islamic theology.

Most Muslims are Sunni, and within Sunni Islam there are 4 schools of jurisprudence. All four of these schools have deemed it acceptable to marry a girl off as soon as she is born, and hand her over to her rapist when she turns 9 years old or bleeds.

While most Muslims are anti pedophilia, the Islamic sources and clerics are not. It is a huge problem where I’m from.

Okay but the answer to the main question in that comment is no, these are not the same people and it’s not easy to tell unless they explicitly say so

It’s part of both if we are going to be pedantic about it.

Also I don’t like to be the one to have to correct facts about Islam but no, it doesn’t work that way in Sunni Islam. Girls are deemed ready for marriage with physical + mental maturity (which is sadly marked often as when they hit their periods). In counties with Sunni Islam, age of consent and marriage are closer to the global average and pedophilia is outlawed. Yes, child marriage exists in these counties but it’s not usually anything any government is proud of or is not actively fighting.

I agree with the last paragraph, there certainly is a problem with Muslim clerics and lots of pedophilia is reported in these circles.

That being said, I don’t think this should ever excuse over generalization.

Edit: Islam already sucks, no need to exaggerate the literature to make it look “worse”. Muhammed married a 9 year old after all.
