    Not naming the suspect until they’ve positively ID him and formally charged him is pretty standard practice.

    There were no eye witnesses either, besides the mother who may or may not have been conscious. Dude may not have been willing or able to talk.

    All of which is to say, they needed to get some fact straight before publicly releasing a name.

    Which, according to the report, was a total of 2 hours from the attack to the announcement of the arrest.
