    I think the real problem will be, “how do we stop landlords from jacking up rent simply because everyone has some extra money now?”

      Along with companies raising prices of items. As a non Canadian, I’ll be curious to watch this play out.

      Even beyond that, UBI gives excuses for employers to reduces raises. It only works when coupled with other programs and regulations, that are flexible but strong, then continually updated and tweaked by a government inhabited by people operating in good faith and have a vested interest in keeping it running as it should be.

      Absolutely none of which can ever be guaranteed.

      Basically, I wouldn’t ever want to be stuck in world where Republicans control Congress when UBI is vital to my livelihood.

        No company operating in a capitalist system has ever needed an excuse to raise prices. That’s not how it works at all.
