It may not be too bad for users: a lot of people are simply always logged on, so they’ll not see any difference. What is the current share of Chrome?

A fair point, thanks! TIL on Lemmy.
Nah, they do not actually live there, they are just browsing every night, shit on my lawn and throw around rubbish if they manage to open the bin. So I do need a tripwire or two. Too bad neighbours’ cats are also on a prowl, that is the only thing that limits my demolition urges!
I’ll bite, we certainly have different dating preferences! Who exactly one should date in an uninhabited forest? )
Well, there is some sense in that. Mining/construction would require special licensing as well for it, and that would be fun to watch a miner or builder using frags to demolish something. )
Silencer is the same to me, as you rightly point out: this is never a self-defence device, there is no conceivable use for one if you are not a certain Bond, J Bond. Who also had a rather specific license!
Right after I get rid of snakes and foxes!
Hmmm. Never thought of that. On the other hand, I have some foxes problem in my garden. Surely a few well thrown grenades could help. Thank you for opening my eyes! Will lobby for a change in the laws of my land.
I am sorry, I really cannot possibly understand why a civilian outside of an active conflict zone can possibly need a grenade? Is that your 4th of July tradition or something?
My thoughts exactly. He has to clear the whole streets to have a stroll.
Then you really are the target audience for all these “go active” advice, which is actually great! The thing is, exercises are great for most relatively healthy people (the ones who do not require professional mental help), as they strengthen your body in the same way as savings strengthen your financials. You just can do a little more of anything with it. So - you are not a lost cause, congrats! ) That said, you do not need a gym to stay fit. Not sure where you live, but there are normally public spaces with fitness equipment available in many urban areas. Or you can google some fitness sets that only need a flat surface for you to do. Something like this would be a good start. And remember, that too shall pass.
Two things, actually. “You are fired”, and “You are hired”. Also, does “I do” count?
Lets be frank, the main reason is that only like 1% of the market has an articulated preference towards free software and privacy. No money to be made equals no product in our cruel world. And of course FOSS, even if it is free to a user (as in you do not have to pay to use it. You do need to spend your time and resources to learn it though, and that is not free already), is by no means free to develop. The time spent on it by devs has to be compensated somehow, enthusiasm is unfortunately not the only fuel our bodies need. And then, for phones, the hardware required is not free as well. And then we need a manufacturer, who would be much more interested in making a billion Android phones than a million of a niche product.
Does Google actively try to stop development of the alternatives? Unlikely, because they don’t have to. They do not make it easier of course, why would they. And they do buy out everything they can, because they can use it to improve their products.
I do not see a good way out of this loop for now. Do you?
It really only needs 2 modes: intense and quick. So here goes 2 buttons. A timer to use cheaper power at night can be of some benefit if you have a tariff supporting it. The rest is… unnecessary. And yes, this is my strong opinion of a man with wifi in his dishwasher that will never get connected.
Oh, but it will not be GOOGLE’s next step. I dont think it is the goal anyway. They only need to help site owners to sign up to their WEI thing, and there will be oh so many incentives. Google will be happy to license it out, or even make the toolkit fully opensource, to whoever wants to implement it in their browser, regardless of the engine used. Their obvious ultimate goal is to show the ads with no interruptions, which also happens to be the desire of most of the websites. And many websites will willingly implement it on their side, they do not really need too much encouragement.
Ok. You are right. It does sound crazy.
Hi All. I am next to illiterate in tracking /ads protection, so please advise: would Adguard disable all that mess? I was a paying user of Sync for Reddit, and will likely pay for this version as well if it is as polished, but i do have a nasty paranoia (or just a healthy desire to maintain my privacy, depending on one’s views) and am on a quest to disable as much of tracking as possible wherever I can .
You really should see a doctor with this!
