Did something happen with Godot that caused the lost sponsors…?
Hello, my name is Cris. :)
I like being nice to people on the internet and looking at cool art stuff
Did something happen with Godot that caused the lost sponsors…?
Same comment I left on the other thread for this article:
The EPA had failed to note the sky-high cancer risk from the marine fuel additive in the agency’s document approving the chemical’s production. When ProPublica asked why, the EPA said it had “inadvertently” omitted it.
Asked last week for an accurate estimate of the true risk posed by the chemicals, the EPA declined to respond, citing pending litigation. The EPA also did not respond when asked why it did not acknowledge that its approval may have been made in error during the months that ProPublica was asking about it.
Uhhh… Anyone know what the fuck is happening over at the EPA???
Edit, also a worthwhile excerpt:
As ProPublica and The Guardian noted last year, making fuel from plastic is in some ways worse for the climate than simply creating it directly from coal, oil or gas. That’s because nearly all plastic is derived from fossil fuels, and additional fossil fuels are used to generate the heat that turns discarded plastic into fuels.
This is kinda the first reply that really gave me a new angle to think about- multiple in fact. Both “vulnerability to fear tactics”, and “keeping people occupied” are a lot more immediate systemic impacts that can benefit maintaining the status quo than the things that had come to mind for me.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I wouldn’t have had the perspective to consider it from your angle and I appreciate it!
Hope you have a good one :)
If you didn’t read the article, go read it, that shit is fucking hilarious
This made me smile, thanks for posting it 😊
Yeah, I guess that feels like the obvious reason. It just feels like there’s gotta be something more immediate and tangible. Maybe there isn’t though 🤷🏻♂️
Does anyone know the strategic reason for right wing authoritarians prioritizing people having kids? Like project 2025 talks about it a bunch, but nothing totally clear cut comes to mind as to why. At least not that feels like it fully justifies how clearly important it is, and that isn’t just me dismissing it as meaningless control or whatever. It feels strategically important
In this case it’s clearly important militarily, but that’s also not likely to help in the present conflict in Ukraine. It’ll take a long time for those kids to grow up, but at least they’d help mitigate population loss
Dude thats fucking awesome
Damn… I didn’t really expect that
Glancing at ibc in Instacart it looks like ibc is still available where I am
As much as I enjoy using GNOME as a software project and am excited about their design direction as a UI/UX nerd who loves open source stuff, I REALLY hope the new person they find can encourage them to move in a direction that involves playing well with others more often.
It’s very frustrating how many projects or groups in the open source/free software world seem incapable of being prosocial, facilitating healthy community involvement, and NOT being antagonistic towards projects and people with different goals, priorities, or perspectives.
If you’re using a custom de-googled rom you don’t have the play store, so this would just gut that functionality :/ same for any other app that decides they need this, which if the past is anything to go on is going to be a ton of apps that really don’t need it
Well that fucking sucks
Ahhh, yeah that’s fair, I was thinking domestically
Take care :)
We even have real alternatives. Mastodon and bluesky are both right there, just go make an account and post a link for folks.
I’m curious what you’d have liked that wasn’t included? We got cost of living issues, social issues like protections for queer folks, health of our democratic institutions kinda stuff, the climate crisis; I feel like she mentioned pretty much all the stuff I really care about
(Making conversation, not challenging your perspective :)
Looks like a really compelling list of policy stances, thanks for posting
Ah. I misread the post, I follow what the guy is saying and what your title was about now.
And yeah that’s more or less the basic jist I was getting. Seems like a really dumb thing for people to be upset over.
