One minute you’re there. In your own flock. You talk to the sheep next to you. Her name is Bertha. Bertha isn’t like all the other sheep. She’s got a raspy deep voice like she smoked 32 packs of cigarettes every day. Bertha smiles at you sheepishly and looks at you. For some reason you feel like you’re herded towards Bertha. That night out in the field, you meet Bertha up on the hill while all the other sheep are asleep. Suddenly, Bertha brushes up next to you and gives you a kiss. You feel yourself blush, taken back by Bertha’s forwardness. She says that she has a place for the two of you to go. Bertha opens the gate and leads you out with her. The gate swings shut and you wonder how you managed to follow this sheep that you just met. Bertha leads you to the bar and orders you a drink. Bertha however takes off her disguise. She’s actually a shepherd dog. Even more taken back, Bertha tells you “Confession time, Mona - I’ve led you astray”. The Shepard hangs her head low You see the sadness in her eyes. It’s such a scandalous thing for a Shepard dog to fall in love with a sheep. “I-I don’t know what to say Bertha!” You stammer as Bertha looks into your eyes. You feel your cheeks flush as she gazes at you. The bartender looks up at the two of you and asks if you need anything. “Is it possible that we can stay the night here?” You say. You immediately regret it, but the words already came out of your mouth. The bartender points up the stairs and says in a gruff voice. “Don’t make too much noise” Bertha pays the bartender and you go up to the room as if enchanted by a magic spell

The problem with these long range Standoff munitions is that they’re sorely needed in the indo-pacific region if there’s ever a war with China. (Likely to be within the next few years) It’s going to give some pause to US planners as range is at a premium there. I don’t see JASSM going to Ukraine myself, as these missiles are reserved for a fight with China. However, it may be a useful move to get Europe to chip in for long range munitions.

With the collective firmly held down on the bottom stop, things happen very fast. The helicopter is descending in a hurry, as in 4,000 – 6,000 feet per minute. Do the math, if you are at 1,000 feet and the descent rate is 4,000 feet, you have one quarter or a minute – 15 seconds – to find a place to land.

It’s more about altitude than the ability to glide. Helicopters can do what’s called Auto rotation, which means they actually can glide. If the blade seize up however, they can’t autorotate. Helicopters fly a lot lower than most airplanes though, so they can’t glide as far.

F-22 isn’t in production anymore and it would be very expensive to start up production again. Much of the capacity to produce F-22 has been taken up by other programs such as F-35 meaning that they would need new capacity.

They actually had the opportunity to produce more F-22s with the Japanese government offering to buy and put forward a lot of money to produce more, but the US didn’t see the need for more of an air superiority platform

F-22 specializes in Air Superiority or clearing the skies. It wasn’t made for air to ground (even though it can do it today) In Afghanistan, there wasn’t a need for more air superiority
