Saving isn’t the same as profit. Saving is much more beneficial, but our society is focused on profit.

You’ve got some good points. Keep up the good fight
As others have said, the analogy is wrong, but for different reasons than what I’ve seen.
A better analogy is an abusive relationship. There’s your partner who beats you regularly. You’re often left bruised. You talk about leaving and the response is ‘the other guy will break your arms, and unless you agree to stay with me, they’re moving in and they will break your arms. I’m still punching you, and there’s no chance I’ll stop, but I’m better than that person.’
There is a cycle of abuse. Look it up. There’s no way to make an abusive relationship better. There’s very little chance that a person will change while they have power over a victim. Power gives up nothing without a fight.
The abuser might change, but only after reflection and a loss of power.
Very true. A forest is definitely preferable
Trees are pretty good at carbon capture :)
I agree with you, but you might find the history of Zionism interesting. Before Israel, there was a sizable portion of Zionists that didn’t want Israel to exist in the middle east. There were also Zionists that didn’t want a ‘state’. They thought it was more important to have a safe place for a sizable Jewish population. There’s probably a lot of flavors of Zionism that you’d agree with. It’s the dominant Israeli Zionism that’s horrible.
It’s a lot easier to say ‘Zionist’ though. Just thought I’d share in case you weren’t aware.
I listened to a podcast a couple of months ago that was about some international agreement that got rid of a bunch of pollution that was going to make this year MUCH warmer.
I’ll find it if anyone’s interested.
Lenin and the Bolsheviks essentially legalized it though.
Nobody likes Stalin. If you do, think about your life and your place in the world
When Harper was still in power, the Canadian government had a deal where the oil companies would get subsidized until the oil sands were profitable.
So Canada was giving the oil companies billions.
I’m putting on my tinfoil hat now.
Trudeau rushed to buy the pipeline when it was canceled. Is that because the oil sands can’t be profitable without the pipeline, and this deal is bleeding Canada dry?
I just thought of this now, I’d love some criticism if anyone’s got some.
I think our three major parties are all neoliberal. They all want to do the same things, they just argue against how much to spend and who to give the money to.
There’s exceptions of course. Notably guns and marginalized people.
I’d prefer not to have a neoliberal government, but until then I’m voting for more freedom for everyone. (NDP or Green)
I’ve heard, so take with a grain of salt, that China likes Chiang’s ideology that China should be reunified.
The disagreement was who should be in power after.
The removal of the statues somehow indicates they don’t want reunion.
Most reddit users are bots.
Most human reddit users are lurkers.
What’s the ratio of active to lurker user on fediverse users?
I get it, but as a fan of Mario, would you rather watch the movie with the va or Pratt?
I’m 100℅ va, but I may be weird
Not a bad fit, but why not the original voice actor? That’s what a lot of people want to see. These VAs do amazing work and their faces aren’t on screen
Even if it’s faithful, the humor from the games is dated so much that only diehards will like it. If it’s not faithful, diehards will hate it.
It’s almost guaranteed to be bad by huge portions of people that will watch it
Israel has attacked 4 different countries in it’s ‘war against hamas.’ It’s attacked, Syria, Lebanon, Iran and Palestine. They’re aggressively trying to escalate.
I see this as very positive. If people want to band together and have a state. Why is anyone standing in their way? Same thing with seceding.
It’s nice that countries are starting to do that for Palestine. It’s kind of wild that it’s taken this long
I’d be happy to give a letter of reference.
To whom it may concern,

You may need to change your handle for this to work :)
Purely speculating here:
The patriot act made it so that the US government had ownership of any data that passed through US land. Is this just a way for the US to monitor all traffic going through into and out of Russia?
It’s actually a big deal inside any privacy space outside of the US. For instance, any healthcare data in Canada can’t go through the US. Same thing for EU countries. Bigger corporations like MS know this and have data centers available for those countries to access within their own borders.
