I have similar issues running Gnome on AMD.
We also can’t plant enough trees to mitigate climate change.
If he isn’t bought and paid for by the fossil fuel lobbies, then he admits to being a complete idiot.
It’s main purpose is to make some die-hards angry, I think.
Read up on the history of… any emancipatory movement, really. Civil disobedience, strikes, direct action, have all involved some forms of violence (be it so-called vandalism, or direct confrontation between groups). Many in reaction to violence by the state or corporations (Battle of Blair Mountain!). Thinking we will achieve far-reaching goals without resorting to some sort of radical actions is ludicrous.
Coincidentally, I had a conversation about dating and climate change with a friend today. We both agreed that people showing off their exotic travel destinations have become a turn-off. Especially when they use airplane emoji’s in their bio. On the other side: it does feel like some sort ‘race’ to show off those fancy place to communicate how well off you are, and not having pics like that may make you less attractive (but then again, why would I want to attract those huge polluters?). Dating gets you in a weird headspace, fucking hell.
Self-regulation fails. Can we solve it with more self-regulation?
I think ‘doomer’ is too vague a term.
I could plausibly be categorized as a doomer, I think we’re already too far along the path towards catastrophe and the forces against us are too big to stop it in time. But I don’t give up and keep acting, because every act of resistance still matters (and will always matter). It’s pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will; to say it with a Gramscian saying.
I’m pretty sure that Hamburg isn’t such an area, and that SUV’s are a totally unecessery folly there. This isn’t hurting working class families. (Also, people like you do have power, organize)
No form of protest is acceptable to liberals (let alone conservatives). When you peacefully protest, no one pays attention, when you damage private property, everybody screams, when you are disruptive while not damaging said private property, you’re still a dick. So who cares, keep on going.
Not sure if it’s entirely solarpunk, but Timberborn has some nice vibes!
I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit here. There’s significant overlap between anarchism and solarpunk. Maybe there’s some other leftwing instance where this community would also fit (or maybe better), but that doesn’t matter that much due to the federated character. All this regardless of what my stance on voting is btw.
