There is a difference between software getting updated and software getting fixed though. We want the first scenario not the second one
Seems like brave search has some ways to go before it becomes competitive with the big guys
Cheers man. Thank you for all your hard work on uBlue and all the images. You are doing amazing work.
I would have reported it but I wasn’t sure whether it was a local issue or a server issue and didn’t want to burden you with an issue without the proper information. Also no worries bugs happen and I have seen no group or organisation react as openly and promptly to bugs as you people do. I hope that sometime in the future, you open donations for uBlue so that people like me who can’t code can show our appreciation for this incredible project
This. Be proactive. Don’t wait for microsoft
Yeah I think is it. Especially because the error got resolved on its own. Thanks
What’s weird is that I did not run into this when I searched for the error. What search engine do you use¿?
I am not using secure boot so I don’t think that’s the issue
Well it was you who implied that a distro shipping the DE with wayland has to do extra testing that they don’t do. I just replied stating that distros are testing and validating for wayland to be the default.
X works for me.
Good. No one is stopping you from using it.
The fighter has an intersex disorder which makes their sex ambiguous to anyone that doesn’t have access to their medical record, and she has been disqualified from competing in past events due to failing female tests, Olympics is one of the few places to allow her to compete.
Do you have a source on the intersex disorder claim. I have seen a lot of articles claim that XY DNA was found in her samples by IBA but the IBA never released their medical results nor what tests they conducted.
Considering that Ubuntu, Fedora and any distro with Gnome or KDE as the default DE already come with Wayland as the default, it is clear they have been testing their own shit when it comes to Wayland and then shifting to Wayland by default.
Me too!
I am guessing that is because the internal displays in laptops are connected using an embedded DisplayPort(eDP) and not HDMI
Not anything about HDMI 2.1 VRR, it probably only supports VRR via DisplayPort Adaptive Sync.
I verified from the user manual that the freesync is supported over HDMI 2.0(Its a budget 1080p monitor so no HDMI 2.1). The issue seems to be that the HDMI forum has not allowed code necessary for FreeSync HDMI in the open source drivers. Fuck proprietary solutions. I hope that DP (through usb-c or mini DP) becomes the standard even in budget laptops which currently come only with HDMI.
Well I usually also look past the auto generated answer because that is not 100% accurate. Digging through many forums, I found comments like these which caused some confusion. The common thread between everybody claiming to have FreeSync is that they are running X11. I just thought since adaptive sync/freesync is a hardware feature, if(and it is a big if as I dont think VRR works for them even if it shows as enabled in the X11 configs) these people have it running on X11, maybe there is a way to get it running on Wayland.
There was this article as well which added to the confusion.
Well frankly, I dont actually care much about VRR. The post was only to gather information because I saw some conflicting info. I agree that expecting an implementation of a proprietary spec in open source is foolish and people should be willing to make some sacrifices in exchange of freedom. What I do request is that you dont be ass about it when you recommend DP.
In some ways, pushing people towards DP is good because it is a better spec than HDMI for the consumers in general and for open source community specifically. The issue is that people are too zealous in recommending and pushing it.
In my case, I dont care much for VRR (Years of playing on crappy hardware have made me somewhat immune to tearing). I was just curious hence the post. Switching to display port is not an option since my laptop has no DisplayPort support whatsoever.
Yeah I am aware that DisplayPort has adaptive sync support but my laptop hardware limits me to HDMI. Believe me I would much rather be using DisplayPort
My laptop has no DisplayPort. Hell the monitor came with a DP cable as standard but because my Laptop has no DP port(not even through usb-c), I had to shell out for an HDMI cable
Yeah I agree that HDMI sucks but unfortunately my Laptop doesn’t have any Display Port and my USB-C port doesn’t have display port alt mode.
I have never seen Freesync over HDMI work.
Is this your experience on all OSes or on Linux only¿? AMD does mention on their website that many displays support freesync over HDMI.
Odd. Can you share which application is it that you are trying to install. Maybe it doesn’t create a desktop file hence the lack of an launcher in the app drawer¿?
Well my comment was not about having control over the software/firmware though that will be cool.
My logic is that well tested, polished software/firmware have very few bugs and hence most of the updates they get are feature additions or improvements to current functionality (examples in an EV could be updates making the BMS more robust, tweaking the regen modes according to feedback from the users, etc). Poorly tested, half baked software/firmware will be full of bugs and broken functionality and will lead to ‘updates’ where all the changes are correcting broken functionality and serious bugs. This will be an unpleasant experience for the user and we should hold companies accountable when they do shit like this
