No, my local public library removed fines a few years ago and added auto-renewal in its place. You get three renewals and then another three-week grace period before they even send you a polite letter that says they might declare it lost if you don’t return it.

I switched to Kagi a few months ago, and I haven’t had to use !g at all so far. Given that I had to daily on DDG, I’m pretty satisfied with the results!
