It’s worth noting that the high cost and long lead times are mostly just a US thing, many nations can go from inception to fully complete in three to five years.
I was curious about this claim and checked out the IAEA website and just checked random cointries and found several reactors that have been under construction for way longer.
I have never heard of a power plant or new reactor of an existing plant being build in that time frame. Do you have examples?
I like 90% about KDE, GNOME and XFCE.
Depending in my changing needs and preferences I switch between them.
If I ever find the perfect DE (or maybe WM), I’ll let everyone know.
Only the KDE/latte part of my script was relevant to the topic. Xrandr is X11
I use scripts that change my display setup (xrandr), the active latte profile and my audio output.
The command to switch the latte profile
qdbus org.kde.lattedock /Latte org.kde.LatteDock.switchToLayout Monitors
You can just create a profile for every scenario once and switch between them.
How about a used Thinkpad? Like the X280. 12.5". Touch. Depending on your region you can get a pretty good deal if you are OK with some scratches or other faults
I used EndavourOS for a while until I realized I didn’t use any of the distros features after the installation.
archinstall is basically just a text menu with the same option as a GUI installer.
I ended up with a vanilla arch install with my preferred DE. Drivers installed, network configured. Ready to go.
I can understand the funds for Ukraine 100%. They are fighting a giant aggressor that has superior numbers.
But doesn’t Israel have a pretty huge and well equipped army considering their population? Especially compared to Hamas that is a guerrilla force.
Also the fighting is limited to a area that is fenced in by them, Egypt and the Mediterranean. What kind of new military equipment worth 14 billion would be needed?
It’s also ironic to support a conflict with 14 billion and on the other side plan 9 billion for humanitarian aid to combat the misery needed because of it.
The current coalition is sadly very weak when it comes to shaping the conversation. The far right, the CxU and FDP have convinced the population immigration is the biggest problem we have, while it could be handled with better organisation.
Immigration will not go away, rather increase to climate factors. We need to build up structures to handle it better.
plexus by techlore tries to crowd source if apps work on degoogled phones. However like others said GrapheneOS has the option to use sandboxes google services. I only had one app that didn’t work at all and it was very niche.
I switched from Proton to Tutanota for two main reasons.
I didn’t want to put all my eggs into one basket, just like you. With Tutanota I get email and calendar in one package. For VPN and online storage I use independent solutions (Mullvad, local solution via syncthing). Related to this, I don’t like paying for a bundle of programs when I only really want to use a subset.
Proton isn’t following through all the way. They keep adding services (password manager and captchas recently), but they don’t provide the same experience across all devices. I’m on linux and their drive doesn’t offer a client that syncs my folder with essential documents. I have to manual upload. That’s a dealbreaker for me.
I used it for the first time on my tablet. I went from LineageOS with unlocked bootloader to debloated Stock OS.
I found it well documented. It has filters to mark apps for removal. You can be conservative or more aggressive. It tells you the purpose of each package and even if it unexpectedly affects functions that shouldn’t be linked to them at all.
Having a way to reinstall Stock android is a good precaution though.
Totally agree. When I rewatch the show I often cherrypick a few episodes from the first season and go into Season 2.
That’s one aspect I have to use a workaround. Since I mostly watch video on the TV, I seldom need to scale the screen. When I want to use the TV exclusively, I have a small script that shuts off the monitors, changes scaling, panels and audio output.
I have two monitors (2K, 144hz, DP) and a TV (4K, 60hz, HDMI) and it ran fine on Plasma. I used X11, because my 2060 was causing issues with Wayland.
When I was little people said dogs would sniff you to figure out who you are. I thought when a dog smells you they know your name, address, …
And maybe they do?
Some posts mention people giving away billions in their later life. That sounds great.
However, you need to ask yourself how much of their obscene wealth was created by screwing someone else over? Essentially nobody can get so rich without taking money out of the pockets of other people. You can’t just generate money out of thin air.
I need a source for that.
I enjoy the Orville quite a bit, but think they focus too much in Isaac. Bordus was featured heavily as well, but to a lesser extend. I would like to see them shift their focus.
I watched TNG pretty recently for the first time and enjoyed, but didn’t love it. It aged pretty well, but still aged.
NTFS is the standard for Windows. Nowadays Linux can handle reading/writing NTFS pretty well, but you should probably use the very established ext4 or maybe btrfs for its partition.
