Tried www.dimebots.com from the repo but it’s down. Wish I could find some of these for sale on tindie or something. I just can’t fabricate anything this small but I’d love to try to get some little swarm behaviors going. Even if I just had 2 or 3. Like a top down camera over a little field to track and control the little bots so I can make them do marching band routines or something.

Is meth bad? Would a company that specifically targets meth sales to the most likely drug using demographics be bad? Would a company that sold meth in shiny, futuristic containers that said “Lucky Dreams!” be bad?

I don’t ‘like’ Biden but I am voting for him. I’ve never ‘liked’ any politicians I’ve voted for- they’re just the closest thing available to the tool I want to represent my interests in government.

You don’t have to tell me you’re voting for Biden but your ‘not liking’ him is irrelevant to me, because I do too. So if that’s all you’re talking about I can’t help but assume you’re focusing on irrelevant issues and ignoring the most important one right now- voting in 2024.

If you want to talk about specific policy goals, executive actions, legislative initiatives- I’d be interested. But if your focus is just abstract sentiments about a single politician that you only have one other, existentially shitty option for- you should expect to be dismissed by pragmatists that are focused on election outcomes.

If you ever find yourself ‘liking’ a politician, take a big step back. They’re like lawyers- you want the most effective one you can get to represent your interests- but don’t pretend they’re not professional snakes that will bite you the second your interests are no longer aligned. In politics the only means you have to keep those interests aligned is voting.

If this was a contest that would be the winner.

My father put together a couple of collections of stuff from my grandfathers’ WWII service for the library and they put it on display for a while. If you have an idea yourself they’d probably love to let you run with it if you speak with them about it- that’d probably be the surest way to get started.

EDIT: also if you’re lucky enough to have a makerspace in your area that’s the candy store- they’ll know about lots of projects that need various expertise and talents.

Museums need a lot of interesting one-off exhibits and interactive stuff. There used to be a few small, local museums for local nature and history in my area that used volunteers to create really cool and informative stuff. Libraries might do some of that too or know about fairs and stuff where preservation groups and the like tend to show off stuff they’re preserving or whatever.

If there’s a community radio or public broadcast group they’ll need quality volunteers. A HAM license opens up a lot of volunteer opportunities especially preparing for and in emergency situations.

Having recently watched The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare I’d like to think there’s a lot of badasses going around doing stuff like that to Russia right now.

Meh- I don’t have to coddle anyone. Anyone still ‘unsure’ about 2024 is either lying or hopeless. I guess if someone literally just woke up from an 8 year coma I’d give them a pass but that’s about it.

Plus these conversations have a very niche audience of about 6 people, maybe one of which is actually an eligible US voter. But even so yeah- if Biden loses it’s definitely because I didn’t coddle the ‘undecided’ on lemmy enough ;)

Yeah you should probably vote for Trump because… uh- idk- he is pretty popular with dummies and some of them are kinda hot and hot dummies are easier pickins if they think you’re on their team. Get that dummy squish however ya gosta!

Of course you won’t vote for Biden. Choosing the lesser evil in an evil world takes a lot of strength and you’re obviously very weak.
