Sorry for talking my russian head out there. There’s just no community fitting it yet.

With so much budget spent on army (30%+?) and syphoned by rich leeches (another %), and everyone fucking knowing and accepting that, I still can’t wrap my head why vatniks oppose the idea of them that much it’s even less acceptable than giving off territories or ending this war, they are too pissed at just the concept of paying them. At this point I think goind back and rebuilding your country is just so economically cheaper than dragging that bloody circus any longer. It won’t return many lives lost, it won’t magically fix anything, no veteran would wake up without their PTSD. It’s just paying some part of what already stolen from us to build mansions, yachts, would never amount to the restoration we owe, of all these oil money. The only problem are these thieves, who no one here can personally relate to or just understand what even a million dollars of wealth really is. Not many people ever held more than 100k rubles in their hands, and they are now just funny papers. What’s their problem?

Is it just a hate-bonner for everything west and you too, that it can somehow defames us? Like, aren’t lacking basic utilities, having beaten roads for years, wasting pupil’s time to propaganda hours in schools are any better? I don’t consider even having a child before I escape that place, that can randomly send me fighting for the dead gramp’s ambitions and killing people who I worked with and befriended. How leaving, paying and starting to finally fix our own problems can be worse that that?

I want to hear you opinions on why that’s even a problem. Is it that this mystical slave mentality left from soviet times and never unlearnt, a well built media screen of patriotism propaganda, or some genuine national self-hatred? What this Lemmy instance thinks?

'Tis not a question I felt like I would ask many years before. I feel like I slept over many signs before the 2022 started. And my standing on the square was completely naive to what speeds this process had.

You can just say if it’s not welcome here. Guess, not many care about what can happen to this dead state, but still.

Because powerful people always lust for more power. They don’t care about who they have power upon. Just how much power they give them.
The general Russian population just goes with whatever is in power, because they are used to being powerless by now.
Fortunately there are people that wake up from time to time, but not enough yet to make a critical mass that cannot be swiftly repressed

It could be this way, if not for pushing down Bolotnaya riots and switching presidents at a drop of a hat. This creature was afraid 10+ years ago at a chance of something happening, then killed Clever Voting sabotage app in the late 10s that coordinated choosing oppositional not-matter-who, then there is just a chekist mockery and Navalny in a prison for some reason, now somewhere in a polar circle.

I don’t feel like I’m in a mojority in any way, but there at the time of these riots I stood as a leftists with skinheads, nazis, and we all were about to ask the same questions. Now their leaders are killed, and my liberal somehow-leaders imprisoned for 8+ years. This regime hates any opposition wherever it came from.

I don’t feel like having someone from our side can change anything at all when the fuckers can randomly charge you with anything. It’s stupid and pathetic to rely on others, but until there’s a complete, defining defeat, I think it would continue. There wouldn’t be many active people to break the circle of asslicking.

You should ask the French how to do it. They have a lot of experience in being a pain in the ass, and do some effective revolutions, even in small groups. Especially Brittons. 😅

They have a history of being pain in the ass, and we have a history of getting used to this pain, whatever the gender or orientation, sadly. I doubt french people could allow this gradual decline to happen without smashing some riot pollice shields. It’s a stupid justification, but it seems like no one is used or even positive about having any freedom here, and many are happy for everything be decided for them.

Change that, encourage thinking and independence. It’s weird to say it like this but that’s how things change. You may not be getting it this war, but if Russians start to think about leadership that would be the first step. Culture is malleable, the French laid down and took it for centuries before they became so darn French about everything. The British had a terrible go at their first time without a monarch, but the country that hates monarchy most was made by a bunch of English people. Russians aren’t just relegated to what you’ve been, you can begin the process of trying to become something new. And I hope you do, nobody deserves for their culture to be so masochistic.

I try, and I will try. It’s just even with Gen Z somehow disconnected from all of that, I don’t feel it’d happen in my lifetime. Their parents and grandparents still intoxicate them with these ideas, wish to sacrifice them for the greater promised glory and a point of pride for themselves, like they didn’t see them grow, making first steps, like they are not even related to them. Sorry, I’m irrational and full of hatred. I just can’t get over it. And I can only hope for that to change.
