Article by Katie Jgln: It talks about the harassment women are exposed to in VR environments and how it fits in with patterns of toxic behavior towards women on the internet in general.
I’m surprised that in vr games like vrchat where men pretending (not trans) to be women is common that real women are being harassed for being good at being who they are? it doesn’t make sense to have a culture of pretending to be a demographic while hurting people in that demographic.
My personal view is that it’s a power thing: Men are establishing a hierarchy by being toxic towards women, irrespective of chosen avatars.
Substack link. No want.
Although it is true that this happens a lot with vr and non vr games, you always have the option to put yourself out of the situation. If you feel unconformable, leave the game. Of course, this advice doesn’t fit every case, when online it always seems like you can’t leave that call or that game cuz people will judge you but that should be less of a priority than your mental health ~
Yes, people can always leave a gave, but the end result are no-go zones for certain people. Of course, many chuds want exactly that. They want to push out anyone they don’t like.
things get shitty? don’t ask for a problem to be addressed, just give up. Great advice.
Why is the burden of being harassed on the harassed?
So shrug and accept the problem is insurmountable? No.
