Right? Literally the entire point of decentralization.
Feels like half my experience on Lemmy is blocking “communities” from those instances. Hexbear, Lemmygrad, explodingheads… constant propaganda, low quality political and even fully racist memes with tons of upvotes polluting my feed. It’s not enjoyable and I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth it even for me, let alone my less tech savvy friends.
I get federation, decentralized social media, etc. I love the idea. Would be amazing to socialize without a corporation looking over my shoulder. But seriously those instances and their propaganda have pretty much killed my excitement about it.
Try making a post in your instance asking your admins to defederate from those places, if they refuse for some reason, pack your bags to a different instance that will. That’s the beauty of federation ^^
