For a nation with the money and manpower to actually build them. Not ones that can only afford to upcycle 5 fossils each decade with a new gun/missile silo and (maybe) coat of paint.
Anyway, like I was sayin’, rust is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey’s uh, rust-kabobs, rust creole, rust gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple rust, lemon rust, coconut rust, pepper rust, rust soup, rust stew, rust salad, rust and potatoes, rust burger, rust sandwich. That- that’s about it.
They might have had a second aircraft carrier by now if they’d finished the one left in Ukraine at the fall in 91. But for better or worse they sold the hulk (and the plans) to China in '99. It’s possible the Kuznetsov is in such a state because the sold the only copy of the plans
These things strike me as very… expensive.
And not easily replaced.
Months for a single boat if your logistics are top tier. Years otherwise.
For the tonnage crossed of this list, easily close to a decade to replace.

Rust can be protective. There’s brown rust, orange rust, fast rust, slow rust. Wire wheels are expensive.

Fair point.
Yeah I’m pretty sure haven’t built a surface combatant larger than a frigate since the fall of the USSR.

Irony a lot of these were built in Soviet Ukraine, so nice to see them laid to rest in their home 🥰
Boats are expensive. I know because I was a sailor, and then worked in ship building/repair.
