“The site will be going private on March 23”
What does that mean exactly? It’s not the same as going down? Will there be a way to access it?
now it says:
The site will be going private on March 23.
Edit: It’s very sad people think we are removing filecrypt links or worse infecting game installers with malware. After all the countless hours spent into maintaining the site, most people don’t appreciate it.
well, idk who thinks that but they’re clearly wrong. I’ve never gotten malware from it and it’s even on the megathread…
I think that addition is mostly interesting because it shows the mindset of the site’s owners - they feel bitter and put-upon, like they’ve put a bunch of work into the site and gotten little or nothing back. Maintaining the site must be a lot of work. Not that surprising that they’d decide to go private, I guess.
it means you’ll have to be a registered member to have access after it goes private.
And how do you register? I assume you have to donate? There’s no other option anywhere.
Gross.
Glad I never relied on them, though. Their download process always seemed weird to me.
Do you know of some other source for GoG files?
Before this website I used to download from dauphong or mercs215 on the pirate bay
No, sorry.
I would just use 1337x, but I recognize that’s only appropriate if you have a VPN.
They also conveniently have NO information on how to register. Really seems like “going private” means “shutting down”
Their private ftp seems to have disappeared as well as site admins contact info. I thing “going private” means “going away completely”.
What is it for? I only know gog.com.
Why don’t you bother to take a gander at the community this post is in?
How to register?
When they started doing away with torrents I stopped even bothering trying their site.
what do you use instead?
I search for torrents, I usually find anything I want, sometimes it takes a while because the torrents are not very active.
I don’t know what they mean by that, but I hope they don’t fully close or return later with a revamped service but it turns out that it’s turned into a virus infested service. I actually like them since their UI is clean and just works on my desktop/laptop.
