minus-squareSemi-Hemi-Lemmygod@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·6 months agoThat’s my problem: I start saving and then suddenly I have a huge expense and I need to empty out my savings. Happens at least every six months.
minus-squarePossibly linux@lemmy.ziplinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·6 months agoWell I guess you could cut costs. I don’t know I’m not a financial advisor
minus-squareSemi-Hemi-Lemmygod@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·6 months agoI cook at home mostly, I don’t go on vacations, my cars are both at least 8 years old, and I live in a low COL area. I guess I could kill one of my children but I don’t think that would make economic sense.

minus-squareCliveRosfield@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·6 months agoI agree with the others, you sound like the type of person that the emergency fund is designed for.
minus-squareGBU_28@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·6 months agoIt sounds like you built and then benefitted from an emergency fund. Nice!
minus-squarePhilipJFryJr@lemmy.mllinkfedilinkarrow-up0·6 months agoI’d argue that’s proof of your emergency fund working! You were able to save enough money to cover an unexpected expense/emergency without having to go into credit card debt. Kudos! You should feel proud of yourself!
minus-squaretyler@programming.devlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·6 months agoThat means it’s working. You’re doing exactly what you need to and it’s absolutely paying off!
