    [so much sarcasm]

Considering current (2016 + era) sentiment, may want to change that to those Antifa brigands.

    back to the true true…

If you get the Hitler comment enough, maybe look at yourself instead. I only see it popping up when someone is leaning faschist, which is very often

This. I experienced Redditors calling me “Nazi”, after I posted a pic to Reddit’s “bald”. They failed to realize that Hitler never shaved his head; he shaved the heads of his prisoners. I tried explaining this to people, and reassured them that my grandparents served on the side of the Allies, during WW2. I still have people who have stalked my profile all the way to Lemmy, perhaps even doxing me, to continue their harassment. I’m not even German, or male, and I get bombarded with commenters accusing me of being a male “Nazi”. Not even “neo-Nazi”. They keep specifically referencing Germany and WW2, and like I said, I’m not even German by dna.

it’s because (in the US at least) the “Skinhead” subculture has been colonized by neo-nazis to such an extent that they’re basically synonymous. also falling back on pedantries like “I’m not a nazi because I’m not a member of the german national socialist party” is how nazis try to deflect people calling them out.

edit: just realized you said it was /r/bald… very strange that people on /r/bald would start calling someone a nazi for having a shaved head. i think you got called a nazi for something else, and the content of this comment makes me think they were right.

e2: account is 10 days old, refers to women as “females”, and likes to whine about anti-white racism. tag appropriately

e3: a reddit account with the same username exists, but they’ve had a bot overwrite their comment history with gibberish. can’t find shit from them posted to /r/bald, so it looks like that’s just an out and out lie. why would you tell on yourself this hard?

This used to hold broad cultural applicability, back in the Before Times when the “Hitler Did Nothing Wrong” crowd was still excluded from the political mainstream. Norms excluding out-and-proud ethnofascists from official, public participation in the English-speaking political right started to seriously slip around the time of Obama’s election and certainly ceased to exist after Trump’s win in 2016, but prior to that time “Nazi” was very much more often an ad-hominem attack than an accurate description of somebody’s politics.

One of the two major political parties in the US definitely has big and loud fascist tendencies, expressed explicitly and often, in both words and actions. And they are proud of it. If anyone cut off any possibility of dialogue, slapped away an outstretched hand over and over again, will try and muddy any and all arguments in bad faith, it’s that political party and its’ voters/supporters.
