That’s nice and all, but “join our instance” and “we’re defederated from the other two biggest instances” are in direct opposition to each other, doesn’t matter what excuses you use.

People split into smaller communities anyway, all a “larger” instance does is reduce the granularity of behaviors, shoving everyone into the same bin. Not all people want to be with all others all the time, smaller instances of like-minded people make it easier to pick your own crowds.
