While I do spend a bit more on energy working from home, the fact is it’s still massively less than what I would have spent on public transport going to and from the office, to say nothing of incidentals that I might have gotten i.e. coffee etc.
And speaking of which energy provider is trying to jack up the prices by 30%. Yeah how about fuck off and sayonara. I’m already spending more this year despite the fact I’m using less energy compared to last year thanks to the split system.
not sure what network you are on but I just switched to OVO who were the cheapest on ausnet. I can send you a referral code if you want that gets us both I THINK 100 bucks credit?
I’m on Jemena network but OVA available to me. Would love the referral code if you don’t mind!
just pinged you a PM, looks like it contains my name so I wont post it here haha
Just made the switch then! Many thanks!!
You mean to tell me your last name isn’t “Break”??? You’ve just been lying to us all for the last 5 years???
F me has it been 5 years!? My god!
(I don’t actually know, and I don’t use Reddit anymore to go find out, just a wild guess)
OVO kinda have me side eyeing because I can’t see what’s different between The One Plan and The Basic Plan apart from wildly different pricing and a tiny contract.
the estimations. I went the more expensive one cause I just dont trust the estimations at all.
Estimations?
the more expensive bill is off meter reads. The cheaper one was estimations averaged out over the month, so it was pre-paid. Found that all a bit zany tbh.
hmm. see, I’m the sort of prick that has zero problems challenging every single estimate bill with an actual photo - especially with smart meters how tf do you “estimate” when you can literally pull the data immediately - but prepaid? Do you mean it averages out, or do you mean they literally want prepayment?
I just switched to them too. I’ll be interested to see how they organise their billing, they are taking out a set amount pre-paid at the start of each month which is a fair bit less than I expect my actual usage to be. It’s not clear whether I will have to pay the difference each month or if I will end up carrying the debt for a while. If they take out too much they give you 3% interest on the overpayment but I couldn’t find anything about how they deal with underpayment.
Has anyone used Wix to make a website? I’m thinking of creating an author website but have zero experience in making them so if possible I’d love to use something idiot proof and hear Wix is good for that.
I had a client engage a web developer who in-turn used Wix to create a basic site. It was a pretty negative experience for us, but it was cheap to host. We had issues splitting off a dev/staging site in particular. It’s been about 6 years, my memory is foggy and the product may have improved.
Wix might be ok for a sole trader and a quiet website though. I wouldn’t recommend it for any business that wanted to regularly maintain/update their site.
I’ve been using Wordpress lately and there’s been a decent learning curve with that. I’ve persevered but it’s far from idiot proof. Have a look at Squarespace, that was the other option I was considering and is more beginner friendly. I think Wix is seen as cheap/tacky.
@danwritesbooks @Seagoon_
I started out with dokuwiki but it unexpectedly stopped working. I caved and used the default wordpress. Wordpress isn’t actually popular, it’s just the default provided by most ISP.I have used Wordpress before and might have to bite the bullet. Wix is a bit too expensive for me.
I use Wordpress and it’s not that user friendly, but is achievable if you are willing to fiddle around with things. Different templates have different options, I spent a fair bit of time at the start just doing a rough sample and changing around various settings to figure out what they did. The biggest issues I had was using too many higher resolution photos at the start which slowed down loading times a lot, and at one point an upgrade broke a few things so I had to go through and re-link photos and I lost the side bar and shortcuts (which one day I will probably get around to recreating).
It started raining once I left the front door and stopped when I got home.
So typical Melbourne weather then designed to maximize inconvenience.
Hasn’t bloody stopped all day here. It’s light but persistent. It’s been three days, it’d be nice to see the sun.
I’m taking it as a signI should not be doing exercise today and should instead be distilling my wash
watching the Vocalyst do reacts to John Farnham and honestly this woman is just lost in the sauce as soon as he opens his mouth. I don’t know whether to laugh or be humbled by how much we just take farnsey for granted
Dear duolingo:
“The lessons start today at four” and “the lessons start at four today” are the exact same sentence communicatively. Don’t start getting fucking uppity and direct translation-y with a fucking romance language.
Which language are you learning?
English, going by those two examples. It’s the most romantic language I know!
Taking today off ‘sick’. About to head out and get a big breakfast and coffee.
That should be just the thing to make you feel better.
Can anyone fetch me a coffee? I’m pinned under a purring cat.
edit: it’s more snoring cat than purring TBH
I need a coffee, sadly I don’t have a purring cat.
Canoe slalom is very entertaining, but what a bonkers sport. I wonder how many drinks were involved in coming up with it.
Yeah that’s some serious white water rafting there. Glad our Jess Fox got in!
our On some level I HATE this. “our” Chloe Covell sounds creepy as shit! But I do love how we embrace them. No matter the sport, you are a national hero whilst you compete.
I don’t think it’s creepy. I think it’s endearing.
but is it ever used in reference to men? isnt it always women? that feels wrong.
I’ve heard it in reference to men, but as a collective. “Our Socceroos”, “Our boys” etc. I can’t think of any examples where it was used in reference to a single male athlete.
I figured out how to export a list of the music people I listen to from Spotify and into a spreadsheet and I am having wayyyyyy too much fun with this.
I listen to 1,147 different people (on average that means each of them appear around 1.3 times in my liked songs playlist). Of those, 70 start with "The " (3 more start with “The” as part of their names, ie Thelma Houston)
I don’t even know who like 70% of these people are, they just happen to appear on one random song I liked on May 7th, 2021, and now forever reside on my playlist.
But there’s a JoJo, JoJi, Ruji, Bazanji, benee, war Paramore, Christian Wannerwall, 2 different doctors, 10 different dudes named John, and 3 little people (plus 6 lil people). One person is registered (®), one is incorporated, and there’s 2 people with $ in their names. And don’t forget Dan Andrews
I don’t know why I’m doing this instead of sleeping, but I currently don’t regret my actions
You now need to work out how to put as much information as possible into graphs.
Spotify makes ‘fake’ bands that they then push on users so they don’t have to pay for the content, or licensing etc. They really are an incredibly awful bunch of scum lords.
Good Morning. 😊
The birds are singing.
Have a great day everyone ❤️
You to gibsonator
No!
I’ll take your great day if you’re not using it
Deal
That’s the spirit!
Morning all. Hope you had a great weekend.
I was in the mood for a horror movie set at camp and found a couple. I watched one made in 83 called Camp Sleepaway. It actually wasn’t too bad, has some out of date thinking around some issues (won’t say because it’s a spoiler) but the special effects are surprisingly really good, especially for the 80s.
And how good was 80s fashion??
Also I’ve noticed in the older movies, kids sound whiny as. Think how Luke Skywalker sounds at the start of a New Hope. That high pitched whine when he can’t go to Toshi Station.
But the real star of the show was this guy. The total package and screen stealer. I laughed for a good five minutes at this part.
No Dan. The fashion was not good in the 80s. I owned a pair of brown corduroy knickerbockers and wore them with knee-high socks and desert boots. You are wrong.
I owned a pair of brown corduroy knickerbockers and wore them with knee-high socks and desert boots
Oh, I didn’t know you had a role in the movie. 😆
(I’m pretty sure that look is in the movie)
We all wore “the fashion” but it was not good. Don’t get me started on the very pointy shirt collars and the skivvies.
I had zebra stripe capris
- Tosche Station
Touche (station) :D
Your humour is lukewarm
That’s Mr Seagoon’s Christmas present/package sorted. 👍
blarg, monday…
I have pikag coming today, but it’s going to come right when I’m at the dentist. I can’t ask them to leave it because apparently the sender specifically told them they’re not allowed to. They don’t usually get parcels to the post office until after they close, and the post office is a PITA to get to by PT, so I probably won’t get pigak until Friday :(
They’ve been promising me for the last week that it will come on either Tuesday or Thursday, and it was just sitting in sunshine west all weekend, but no, apparently at 8:30 they transferred it to Melbourne airport and gave it to a van man at 9:02. The one time I’m unhappy about them being efficient ☹️
No rain here. Think I will go out for a walk and do some shopping.
later 😘
