When I go into my garage right after work it’s usually to fill our bird/squirrel feeder. I’ve noticed for the last couple months that when I go into the garage in the late afternoon now, I start to hear the crows and scrub jays start to call each other moments later. They’ve usually found all the -in-shell peanuts in the feed within an hour.
Scrub Jay’s call:
Derek Peanuts
Derek Peanuts
Crow’s call:
Protect Derek
Get Peanuts
Funny but snopes says merely a legend https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/field-of-seeds/
You can tell it’s made up because it has “it’s said that” in it.
Yep, pigeons can differentiate human face traits (generally speaking).
Though many keepers have told me that raptors tend to distrust them if their clothing is different (shirt, hairstyle, hat, glasses, etc.)
Haven’t heard the same behavior from columbidae.
I have pet parrots, they can be put off by a change of clothing. My husband bought a hawaiian shirt and became persona non grata for a couple of hours before the birds accepted that he hadn’t been replaced with a colorful imposter.
All my homeys hate Snopes.
