There wasn’t only one option in Germany. If I was a german in the 1930s I’d vote for a party that didn’t plan to commit mass genocide and didn’t say that Jews are the root cause of all problems. Even if that party sucked, it’d suck less than Nazis. This is harm reduction and it is the best approach in such situations.
