I went to r/conservative on Reddit just for fun and some of them are already flip flopping. Most are getting down voted to hell, but it was noticeable. But at the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if it was bots trying to turn everyone against each other, as is tradition.

After the headline-grabbing execution, questionable portions of the internet immediately began thirsting over images of the alleged killer while denouncing the corporate greed showcased by UnitedHealthcare and its peers.

    Lol questionable.

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly similarly slammed Mangione’s declaration on X writing, “His ‘lived experience’ is about to be punctuated by 3 squares a day and a fear of showering.”

    Fuck you.

…with far-right political activist and former political correspondent for One America News Network Jack Posobiec writing on X: “There’s a reason the left supports murderers who shoot businessmen in the street.

    “It’s a feature not a bug.”

    You make it a feature.

After news on Mangione’s arrest came to light on Monday, Fox host Jesse Watters weighed in on the 26-year-old’s potential future in prison, claiming that he’s “not ready” and that he’s “gonna get annihilated.”

“I don’t think anyone’s ready [to go to prison],” Watters said on The Five. “This guy’s not ready. He’s way too soft. He’s gonna get annihilated on the inside, and good.”

“If he’s not gonna get the death penalty, maybe someone will do him justice behind bars,” he added. “That’s all I have to say about that.”

You get a fuck you too.

This kind of pairs with the rape stuff. There are an awful lot of very gross people that wish for rape AND murder to happen in prison. The idea of our system supposedly being about corrections is a complete farce as long as so many people like that are among us…

I don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility that corporate interests would find a way to get another prisoner/guard to kill him. I doubt it would even be that difficult for them. They have so much to offer to a group of people who have been deprived of most things. solidarity to a cause only goes so far when your life is just suffering.

They absolutely have a vested interest in demonstrating to the public that people who kill members of their class will face terrible repercussions.

Just how they believe that women and BIPOC belong below them on the ladder, in their “proper” place (yes even the women believe that, internalized misogyny is a bitch)

They cannot stand the idea that people they hate might benefit, too.

I bet if they could find some way of justification via other means, for instance, over arguments of “socialism” vs. “capitalism”, they would find ways to make sure POC, liberals, women, gays, etc., do not benefit from the current system as well.

Of course, they really pine for someone - maybe donvict - that will let them do it out in the open, w/o the facade of “socialism” vs. “capitalism”.

Honestly, I think about the only outcome would be that the C-suites, the billionaire class and their apparatchiks just step up security. It’s not like murdering a handful of C-suite types or even their billionaire overlords will change anything. They’ll just swap in a new person that is just as willing to fuck everyone over. The billionaire overlords will just pass that money on to their foundation/offspring.

I think elmo already has a lot of security, yes? And remember how much he whined and threatened the guy that was just posting public data about elmo’s jet location?

It’s complicated. His politics doesn’t seem to fit neatly in any box. If you wanted to pick out facts to paint him as too right wing for the right wing, you can do it. If you wanted to pick out other facts to paint him as the new coming of Weather Underground, you could do that, too. He’s also at a time in his life where your politics can shift around a lot, so posts from just a few years ago may not reflect where he is now.

Or maybe he just didn’t give a shit about any of that and was just really pissed off at health insurance companies, felt that all representation had failed us, and the only solution left was violence

But people will read an article that has barely any info and jump to wild conclusions based on pure speculation to categorize him on one of the “teams” rather than assume he is one of the vast amount of politically apathetic individuals that make up america.

so tons of the right wing will move to paint him as a leftist, because it’s simple with the lack of info available and the current rhetoric surrounding the event, because it is advantageous to them. the left wing will move to distance themselves because there is info available that casts doubt on his being a leftist and again it is advantageous for them to distance.

And while both spend time shitflinging away responsibility for this person, who never claimed either side, it will deflect from discussing the very real issue he exposed with his act: the health care system in this country is so fucked up that when it drives someone to murder an executive a huge amount of people cheer them on

In particular, he really emphasized remorse about any collateral damage and took significant steps to minimize it. His statement about the unibomber was essentially “Good motive but horrible execution that hurt a lot of innocents”

In his attack there was a nearby bystander who saw literally everything and he neither harmed her nor appeared to threaten her in any direct manner. He moved to pass her so she could flee.

I still think murder=bad but he took real steps to make sure the only damage from his actions was on the CEO and himself.

Oh man, bro was reposting Peter Thiel lmao. You’re correct, Phoneymouse, good link.

A part of me envies him for still being able to appreciate Hulk Hogan despite how awful a person he is.

He was a right winger 2 years ago, he retreated from social media etc for a long while, so it might not even reflect his current views.

And if it does? Well, then he’d be a right winger and would have done more for class struggle than I ever did, and most likely ever will. Still very much worthy of respect, even as I’d disagree with most of his views.

Even if he is, the right wing noise machine is trying to get out ahead of this. They don’t want their base which is very prone to violence getting any ideas about who is really actively harming them (and it isn’t POC, it isn’t trans, it’s not the left, it’s not women…).
