  • It’s a shame, too. I don’t really mind playing with other people, usually PvE, but when you’re just so much more mature than they are the whole dynamic can be grating. PvP though? I’m not sure what’s worse, the shit talkers or the teammate griefers who throw a game for some silly reason.

That said, I met my wife in an MMO and you very much can make genuine connections with strangers on the internet. Just… You know, if you’re hitting 40 and they’re 14, the FBI might want to have a word with you.

  • Glad to be in California, even if my vote isn’t going to matter thanks to electorial college. I still have to vote on propositions and other down ballet stuff, but it’s a simple walk to a drop box. We get quick confirmation and votes remain sealed until counted to prevent tampering, so it’s pretty safe to mail it or drop it off. Also still counts if it’s postmarked on time, although I do late that it’ll be a week before we really know results.

That said, if you can go early voting in person, it’s probably more reliable in many other states with less protections. I heard USPS may be unreliable and if you can’t get confirmation via email or text, it’s hard to know if it’s received.

  • There’s a very very interesting story about nesticle but unfortunately I’ve forgotten it. Some kind of drama, a bit edge lord stuff, and I think someone died? It’s actually one of the first emulators, ever, though.

It was a very niche community back then though, long before IGN caught wind. Weird I only found out because of a crazy conspiracy theory uncle, though. Thanks for reminding me about UltraHLE, though!

  • As with Yuzu, I won’t be buying any more switch games. I’ll still be playing switch games, and so will my friends, but we won’t my buying them.

Honestly, I’ve lived watching emulators for decades. They can come and go and there’s always more, even ones that aren’t forks. Just today I was reminiscing on my first emulators, zsnes, no$gmb and nesticle. Y’all remember the peaceful zsnes snowfall? Good times.

  • Everyday angry is usually due to stupid and/or entitled people, but as a teen I experienced blind rage before and that’s a lot harder to explain. You kind of blank out and go after someone, fast heart rate, high blood pressure, truly beast mode. That was usually from bullying or dealing with my alcoholic father, though.

Now a days anger is probably closer to irritation than anything. Which is kind of a shame, I used to use anger to get things done. I once was so angry at a teacher for an unfair C in an art class that I channeled that into the most haunted self portrait I think he ever saw for the final. I ultimately got an A. Does spite count as it’s own emotion? Lol

I was a little confused too (plus it doesn’t help that the joke itself isn’t very clear) but I’ll boil down my own thinking:

    • The Dunning Kruger effect is just that people bias towards thinking themselves more knowledgeable than they are when they lack expertise.
    • The brain is probably human, and maybe healthy, if Google image search is to be believed. I’ve had anatomy classes with very dead brains to look at and brains certainly look like that (?) but plenty of primate brains look that way, too.
    • I think OPs joke is that the second brain is the same, only measured differently because of said bias.
    • It’s likely everyone in the comments have limited expertise and thus may be demonstrating said effect by correcting one another.

I’m still not getting the joke but I think it’s funny enough that us commenters of commenters are questioning things and might be the only ones not experiencing the Dunning Kruger effect. Lol
