From what I’ve seen in the videos, when the cops say “get out of the car”, “get down on your knees” or “put down the gun”, people either unresponsive or swear and refuse.

What’s the reason for this? In a place where the police have so much power, why don’t people care?

Update: I triggered people somehow. I’m not from US. I didn’t want to blame people. I apologize for asking a question about a subject that I don’t know. Won’t happen again.

    1. They’re not going to show you completely routine stops that involve nothing more than exchange of paperwork
    2. They’re not going to show you minimally confrontational stops where people politely comply
    3. Often, such commands are preceded by a series of events that’s elevated everyone’s stress level and reduced rational thinking
    4. Fear of abuse/arrest
    5. Drugs
    6. Mental health
    7. A bunch of stuff that other helpful lemmings will point out.

What hasn’t been mentioned is cops will just scream at you, and if there’s 2-3 of them they’ll often give conflicting instructions. Doing what one cop wants means another might shoot you.

100% this! its not a bug, its a feature, sadly.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_Daniel_Shaver

If you watch the video of this shooting, the police play a increasingly complex game of simon says with a drunk man, and shoot him.

The shooting officer retired, early, with a pension due to emotional trauma.

Don’t watch this video, its the body cam video of the Daniel Shaver incident, but its illustrative of the situations police are trained to put people in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBUUx0jUKxc

Basically its a rigged game, anything you do, or don’t do, could be a threat to the officers life, and the most important thing is to go home safely every day, so they shoot early and often.

I’m guessing you’re only looking at videos where this is happening and not the hundreds of times where people follow directions.

Because they’ll kill you either way. They can’t be trusted and following their orders won’t help.

Because the police have too much power and we need to assert ours wherever we can. We shouldn’t give in to authoritarian forces. Police were supposed to be trained to diffuse situations and protect the general population from crime, not manufacture crime and harasses, abuse and murder people.

    “Won’t happen again.”

So you asked a question, got answers, but don’t like the answers you got? At a 23-year old software developer, how do you expect to learn new things? Do you only accept answers you prefer?

“My teacher marked one of my answers wrong, I’m not going to school anymore.” That’s what you sound like.
