He said Russia, like J. K. Rowling, is a victim of cancel culture.

I … don’t know what to say, folks. Completely speechless. We live in a ciseity.

I think he’s just trying to make the libs mad. If I still had Twitter, I’d definitely be seeking the “how DARE you mention his holy name and prinkunce JK YAS KWEEN PBUH TERF MISTRESS ROWKING’s name, Mr Putin, have you no shame, Sir?” comments.

The Tumblrinas had an identity crisis when Rowling came out as a TERF though. They had to kill their God. Ricky Gervais is about to swing to the alt-right too, but his fans already hate him at least.

Putin’s report card: Solid A- in “Fighting Imperialism (Advanced Placement Course)” but a D in “Avoiding Lib Cringe 101”

Harry Potter has always been shit. If a good magic system is the Mona Lisa then Harry Potter is finger painting on the wall with diarea. The entire franchise is carried on the back of Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson being hot.

Nah, imo people are overcorrecting their views on the books, because the author turned out to be a piece of shit.

They aren’t shit, but reading them as an adult is just kinda disappointing because the world building is just so terribly superficial in many regards. Last time I listened to the audiobooks some years ago I could still easily enjoy them and I could still see all the parts I loved as a child and what made the universe lovable to me and many others then. It’s not even that she doesn’t bring up deeper issues thematically or within the world building, she just never really expands on them as much as she could and should. No idea if it’s because of her personal politics, but she always stops exploring things right when they’re getting really interesting.

Idk, maybe it’s mostly nostalgia, because I don’t engage with Rowling in any way at all and I know I’m in the minority on this, but I’m not on the hate train yet lol
