I’m looking for something similar to NotePlan, which is a really intuitive plaintext notes-task-calendar app that’s native to the Mac ecosystem. I’m looking for a similar PC alternative, preferably self-hosted (although at this point I’d settle for a cloud native web app if I can use it on a darn PC lol).

…native to the Mac Fuck NotePlan. Fuck any company/dev that makes notepads, calculators, todo lists, calendars, etc. exclusively for iOS or Macs.

I use Joplin and it works really well! It has a server for syncing but you can also sync to the filesystem, meaning if you have a network share or synced folder via syncthing it’ll work using that.

Also it’s offline-first so if your server goes down for any reason it’ll still work and resync when you get back online

Logseq has been great for me personally, it’s a bit unintuitive at times and the desktop app has been a bit buggy but updates come fast.

Obsidian with Calendar + Tasks + DayPlanner + DataView + Templater.

Maybe the Calendar-functionality is a little bit weaker, but otherwise Obsidian is really powerful (and sometimes a little bit overwhelming, with everything you customize with the Plugin ecosystem behind)

Mind linking me the Calendar and Tasks plugin that you are using? I’ve just moved to Obsidian and I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate a todo list or even todoist in to it.

      Thanks!

We (NotePlan team) are building a web version! Sign up here to get on the waiting list. An alpha is already available and we almost got a third-party database up and working (encrypted) as alternative to Apple’s CloudKit: https://tally.so/r/31dePp

Try Anytype. I’ve used Logseq for the last 2y, and switched to Anytype because it’s open source, soon self-host-able, and a loot of other goodies are comming soon.
