This leaves out a lot. xananax did use the n-word in a few messages 8 years ago to refer to himself as a joke, in response to being called that in other communities (he’s arab and thus one of the slurs was sand n-word). He has apologized for those messages a long time ago, and throughout the years has shown no tolerance towards towards racism or any other kinds of bigotry. What he did do sometimes was use some very strong and crude language (think on the level of calling someone human filth) towards such bigots (if I recall correctly there were at least two instances of such events in the past once towards someone defending israel’s actions and another towards a transphobe, he did apologize for both I think). Like, I think he can be criticized, but not for racism.
Also, I think the main drama is just bigots suddenly noticing Godot’s stance in regards to inclusiveness that the foundation had the whole time, from a tweet by the foundation sarcastically using the word “woke” and encouraging people to share their games that are “woke”. The xananax thing isn’t really the main drama, I think.
echo
and alias
are both shell commands. If the shell is running (which it obviously still is), those commands should still work, as it does not involve reading data from disk, but from memory.
Edit: I just noticed the picture said cd
was not found, which is also a shell built-in. So, I don’t know.
Let’s hope some day this bug gets fixed: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/71929
I couldn’t run it because of that bug back when I tried it.
For some reason I thought that was a really big log on its way to collide with the truck from the side
It should be noted that the documentation built-into the engine is mostly documentation for the different classes, and that tutorials, guides and explanations written in prose still need to be viewed from a browser.
lemmy.ml has non-unicode emojis?
German has the term raubkopieren for piracy which translated literally means theft-copying. I kind of find that term funny because somehow it makes it sound even worse than just piracy, since with pirates we at least have the pop fiction image of the pirate, and because it has a paradoxical sound to it (“how can you steal something by copying?”).
I can feel the billionaires’ suffering with all their wealth. We as society must do something about these oppressed people that are billionaires. I propose we redistribute all their accumulated wealth and the means for its creation to all workers, so that no one will ever have to live through the horror that is being born rich.
I think a prime example of hexbear wholesomeness is their trans megathreads: https://hexbear.net/post/3363552
They even have a community to help each other out: !mutual_aid@hexbear.net
I do see Lemmy.world running into issues in the future
I think lemmy.world is already pretty bad. To get away from their posts and comments I’ve considered joining hexbear, since you people honestly have the best content and most wholesome community and aren’t federated with .world, but I also don’t want to be completely isolated from the rest of the fediverse. However, I just noticed there are only 5 instances in hexbear’s blocked instance list and plenty in the linked list. Maybe I didn’t notice how all other instances started federating with hexbear again?
I’m not sure, but I think that might have been part of the joke, seeing all the comments here.
The thrive community forums did it with the word belgium, inspired by the work of Douglas Adams
The f in foss is for free as in libre, not price. And I imagine it is used to avoid touching the topic of open source software vs libre software. So saying you can make money from one and not the other doesn’t make sense.
I thought it was going to be a !fuck_cars@lemmy.ml post, until I reached the corporeal punishment part.
Couldn’t we just get rid of the animals and just ferment the beans ourselves by using the bacteria in their guts?
It goes beyond just showing what part of day you are in. Everything is reduced to angles. You don’t have to do any math with numbers, just look how much the pointer has to move to see how much time is left until an event you are interested in, and you get to visually compare that angle with the entire half of a day to get an even better perception of the passage of time.
I used to have one, but now I set my phone clock to be displayed as an analogue clock so that kind of made it obsolete, since it now has all the benefits of an analogue display with the additional advantage of automatically syncing time and adjusting for time zones and daylight saving time.
Being able to know exactly the time in a moment’s glance seems better to me.
That seems more like a pro for analogue to me. It’s much easier with an analogue clock since you get a visual presentation of time. Whenever someone tells me a time, I have to first imagine an analogue clock to understand what that time means.
It’s intentionally badly cropped for comedic effect.
