They’re fine giving you their info because they trust you. The problem is when the person seeking that information is untrustworthy – and some shithead(s) making their way into a company or government isn’t just possible, it’s likely.

Tell them to give all their sensitive personal information to someone that hates them. Credit card numbers, political beliefs, nudes, sexual preferences/fetishes, etc.

Oh, is it because decades of incompetence and corruption weakened their already crumbling military? Their lack of a strong economy to support the war effort? Is it because they’re relying on Soviet leftovers instead of modern equipment? The fact their enemy is a motivated, supplied with actually decent munitions by modern/rich countries, and has a competent chain of command?

What do I win?

They’re not insane: everything they’ve done are things they sincerely thought they could get away with, and up until Ukraine Putin has been correct in that regard.

Pretending to be crazy is an effective strategy: ironically Nixon popularized it during the cold war.

Attacking targets in NATO countries (even if “justified”) is going to drastically increase the odds NATO gets directly involved in Ukraine – something Putin absolutely doesn’t want.

Then add a layer of air a few feet wide between the armor and the crew compartment, duh.

They almost certainly have in house legal teams and those lawyers are salaried.

That saying holds more truth if you’re using the “non-political” definitions of conservative – i.e. moderate, cautious, or resistant to change.

Moreso “set in your ways” as the world changes around you.

I know this Is an old post, but in the early 2000s 70’s fashion came back in vogue – a 30 years difference. And 30 years ago from today is the 90s, so it makes sense.

I think it’s a result of the 40 year old crowd. They’re a demographic with money and starting to get nostalgic for their childhood, so the market caters to that . Kids get exposed to it, a few trend setters decide it’s cool/vintage, and it takes off from there.

I can only speak to the USA, but in my area the number one crop in this area is dent corn and soya. Of the corn grown here 40% goes into ethanol production, and 36% is used for animal feed.

Commercial poultry production heavily relies on grain – typically corn. It’s the primary ingredient in the processed feed overwhelmingly used for commercial poultry, as seen in this typical mix.

We absolutely grow crops specifically to feed livestock. And this is ignoring the 52 million acres used for alfalfa and hay-grass.

I own a leather motorcycle jacket I’ve abused for 20+ years that is none of those things, and it wasn’t particularly expensive. I’ve repaired some loose stitches and rub some leather balm into it twice a year.

Yes: garbage quality leather is crap, and most of the “fast fashion” items on the market use trash leather. But decent quality leather will last for decades if you put a minimal amount of care into it. It’s relatively easy to maintain and repair too.

Having read the paper, there seems to be a glaring problem: Even though the user can’t tell an attacker the password, nothing is stopping them from demonstrating the password. It doesn’t matter if it’s an interactive sequence – the user is going to remember enough detail to describe the “prompts”.

A rubber hose and a little time will get enough information to make a “close enough” mock-up of the password entry interface the trusted user can use to reveal the password.

You’re right: nobody is entitled to your vote.

That being said, everyone else has the right to judge and comment on your choice and justification of it.

I mean … they’re still cats with cat brains – you’re not going to be having deep conversations with them.

The vast majority of their language is body language and you can figure out what they’re “saying” by just looking at them. Also, they’re cats: even if they know what you’re trying to say if it’s something they don’t like they won’t care.

Lemmy has a fair number of loud, toxic instances, communities, and users. On the other hand, it’s easy to block all of them, and it’s practically a requirement to enjoy lemmy.

So block with zero hesitation – the only people that will give you crap about it are the people that are the problem in the first place.
