  • Scary hate-crime consequences aside, it is sociologically/psychologically fascinating to see cis straight men being forced to reckon with what the fuck even their sexual preferences are, what they actually entail, what the acceptable boundaries are in their mind, etc. etc.

Being mired in cultural and social norms that were decided for you before you even gained self awareness seems exhausting and tragic.

  • It is valid to criticize how our current society disproportionately economically reward STEM fields while ignoring social sciences, philosophy, anthropology, etc. and thus often creating these math nerd types who are simultaneously racist or reactionary idiots, but (assuming you’re being serious) dismissing math as “fake” only reads as very bitter

  • I’ve heard the idea that if men were more like women the world would be a better place (frankly still not totally unconvinced of this assertion), but her point that this particular type of submissive/docile woman that is being referenced in the aforementioned hypothetical is in fact manufactured in part by patriarchy is a great point.

In general though, feminism without class consciousness is very pernicious and from my US POV is pretty widespread among middle/upper class groups. It can be difficult to criticize because blatant misogyny is still such a common perspective here, so offering nuanced views on feminism to a bourgeois feminist can be difficult and often seen as hostile.
