  • No one else brought up the importance of backups, supported software ( outside gaming ), installation process or real world problems with hardware compatibility.

    Taking my own advice, I guess it’s not a big deal. It’s just an OS. But I’d argue what I mentioned ARE the problems people experience when dipping their toes into Linux. Top 2 voted comments are users who don’t even use the distro. I guess these days we go off general vibe over facts and logic.



  • how do you expect someone who never used Linux before to judge anything about a distro but its looks?

    There are videos ALL over the internet of people actually using these distro’s and explaining key aspects of it. There are posts everyday with people discussing issues asking for help. Which provide insight into problems you may run into. I’m just not sure I understand the value of a lemmy comment about “tried it once and it was cool” vs everything is else. Just do the thing or don’t. It’s just a silly Linux distro.
