Technically it’d be a counterbore, then put countersink/chamfer on the counterbore so the coils don’t catch on an edge in worst-case

There was some sketchy experimentation like this by a grad student during the early days of nuclear development before tightening of safety measures. He used screw drivers to hold the pieces of radioactive material apart…
You’ll need a slit or other small opening at the top aimed up and might want the hemispheres to have overlapping edges. The very small seam between the spheres is what projected the AoE kill zone in the original design. In this case that would mostly hit dirt.
Reusable is good because you can do a few test jumps yourself for free!!
