The framing of this is kinda odd. They don’t want the war to stop. Or rather, they don’t want specifically the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the native indigenous people to stop. They want the war to end because it’s destroyed the economy of the occupied territories. They wanna go back to brunch. With a side of stealing land from the natives and the occasional lynching of Palestinians.
They don’t like war when they can feel it at home.
It really is incredible that this is what got people in the streets, not the dead and dying children.
A IDF soldier was recently arrested for raping female palestinian prisoners There was an Israeli protest … in support of the accused.
The type of population you get in a fascist state that’s been indoctrinating people for over 60 years. Even nazi germany only lasted for 12.
There is a photograph which accompanies the article of one of the protesters holding a placard which reads, “this is fascism”.
I feel like it’s totally wrong to apply such a broad generalisation (“They don’t want the [genocide] to stop”) to such a group of people. The people of Israel are not a monolith, and I know for a fact that there are those in Israel who have been protesting their genocidal policies the whole time. It seems very plausible to me that a good number of the protesters calling for an end to the current violence will be opposed to the whole settler-colonialist project, in the same way that I wholeheartedly despise the state of the country that I was born in.
Generally, yes. This is an anti-war protest from an economic perspective, not a moral one. Their demands will not liberate Palestine, but provide a much-needed temporary reprieve, if met. Still, it is good that the genocidal menace hurts, and is facing internal fracturing.
“They want the war to end.” Lemmy: not good enough
Great tactic, clearly your posts show you are a racist, fascist genocide supporter. Because your entire existence is so tenuous, you resort to making outlandish claims as the basis for your “argument” and then criticize others for somehow sticking to reality.
Note how your all-powerful “quote” is the literal opposite of what the original commenter posted, yet you use it as a platform to attack.
Pathetic, but what do you expect from .world.
The note says they want a ceasefire. This, to exchange hostages for, I’m guessing prisoners and other conditions. Once they have them back, by definition, the war continues. So, the way you put it is not accurate.
All the protesters know that the cease fire and letting go of Philadelpy route will dismantle the government, because the fascists parties will resign. Netanyahu don’t want this to happen because he’s a psychopath asshole. This will end the war, and surly end the unnecessary death of civilians. Might even create the conditions to a different government.
Nowhere near good enough. These people only want the hostages back, not for the 60 years long and ongoing ethnic cleansing to end.
Still, instability in the occupation is definitely good for the resistance.
They don’t want a ceasefire, they want the hostages back. afterwards the bombing can continue as usual.
Well, this is somewhat encouraging.
